- Day 1
Tokyo
After you clear customs, a shared shuttle bus will take you to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day however you'd like, whether that's resting or walking around to get a feel for the area. Later in the afternoon, you'll get information about what's coming up on your tour.

- Day 2
Tokyo
You'll have a five-hour guided tour through Tokyo's neighborhoods starting with Zojoji Temple and its views of Tokyo Tower. The day hits Shibuya Crossing, Meiji Shrine, and Omotesando Avenue before moving through the Imperial Palace gardens and Nijubashi Bridge. After checking out Akihabara's electronics energy, head to Tokyo Skytree for city views, then finish in Asakusa at Sensoji Temple and Nakamise Street. By evening, take the subway to Shinjuku for a guided walk and dinner at a local restaurant before heading back to your hotel.

- Day 3
Tokyo to Mount Fuji - Kawaguchiko
Travel toward Mount Fuji through scenic landscapes, stopping at Arakurayama Sengen Park for iconic views of the mountain. Then you'll reach Kawaguchiko, a charming town by the lake, where you'll visit Fuji Sengen Shrine set in a tranquil forest. Take a boat ride on Lake Kawaguchiko and drive up to the Fifth Station at 2,305 meters (7,562 feet) through beautiful forests. You'll return to Kawaguchiko for the night at a traditional ryokan with onsen hot spring bathing and dinner included.

- Day 4
Kawaguchiko to Kyoto
Drive scenic roads around lakes to reach Iyashi no Sato Nenba, a traditional village that was destroyed in 1966 and rebuilt as an open-air museum with arts and crafts shops. See Shiraito Falls with water dropping 20 meters down the rocks. After that, you'll head to Nagoya to visit the Toyota Museum, which shows automotive history and design. Later you'll drive on to Kyoto for your overnight stay.

- Day 5
Kyoto
Spend your day in Kyoto exploring Japan's former imperial capital. Start in Arashiyama at Togetsukyo Bridge for panoramic views, then visit Tenryuji Temple, one of the five great Zen temples in the city, and walk through its bamboo forest. You'll explore Fushimi Inari Shrine, the Imperial Palace, and the golden Kinkakuji Temple with its gardens. The afternoon leaves you time to wander through Gion, Kyoto's traditional geisha district.

- Day 6
Kyoto to Kanazawa
After breakfast, travel along one of Japan's largest lakes and stop at Shirahige Ginra Shrine by the water. You'll visit Eihei-ji, a temple monastery from 1244 and a center for Zen Buddhism where monks still practice meditation. In Katsuyama, explore the Dinosaur Museum at Japan's largest fossil site with over 40 skeletons on display and grab lunch during free time. Then see the Great Buddha of Echizen and its temple with a five-story pagoda you can climb for views. You'll reach Kanazawa by evening.

- Day 7
Kanazawa
Explore Kanazawa, a city that once competed with Kyoto and Tokyo and wasn't damaged in WWII. Your guided tour covers the castle area and Nagamachi, the historic samurai neighborhood with preserved houses, walls, gates, and water canals. Visit Kenrokuen, one of Japan's three most beautiful gardens. The tour ends at Omicho market, a lively traditional spot with many lunch options. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore on your own.

- Day 8
Kanazawa to Takayama
Travel through mountain landscapes and forests to UNESCO World Heritage villages in Gokayama and Shirakawago. You'll visit Ainokura and Shirakawa-go Ogimachi where you can walk around and have lunch, seeing traditional houses with steeply sloped roofs built to handle heavy winter snow. After that, head to Takayama to explore the Hida Folk Village Museum, an open-air collection of over 30 traditional houses from the Edo Period that were moved here in 1971. Spend free time walking Takayama's old town with its wooden houses and shops.

- Day 9
Takayama to Tokyo
After breakfast, go to Hida Furukawa to walk through its old town. The city's festival is an UNESCO cultural heritage, famous for large drums and decorated floats, and you'll visit the museum showing these floats, costumes, and drums. You'll cross the snow-covered Japanese Alps and reach Matsumoto to see the impressive 16th-century castle known as 'Crow Castle' for its black exterior. Free time lets you have lunch and explore the town before you depart for Tokyo, arriving by the end of the day.
