Hanoi
Your Vietnam adventure kicks off in Hanoi with a 6 pm welcome meeting. If you land early, the Old Quarter's worth wandering through with its crowded streets and shops. Check out Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum or just chill by Hoan Kiem Lake with a bia hoi. After everyone gathers, you'll have dinner included at KOTO, a social enterprise where disadvantaged youth get employment training.

- Day 2
Hanoi
Morning's all yours to explore Hanoi on your own terms. The Old Quarter functions like an architectural museum with ancient streets selling souvenirs, silk, and jewellery everywhere. Later this afternoon, you'll cycle around West Lake on a quiet route that passes lotus lakes, old villas, and the Tran Quoc Pagoda, Vietnam's oldest temple. Your leader can point out where to find solid banh mi and beer later on.

Hanoi - Hoa Binh - Cao Phong - Mai Chau
Today your cycling really begins. You'll bus from Hanoi to Hoa Binh, stopping at Vun Art, run by people with disabilities. Then you're cycling through Thai villages and rice paddies toward Cao Phong with limestone peaks showing up in the distance. After lunch in Man Duc, you'll ride along the Da River past karst cliffs into Mai Chau where you stay in a stilt-house homestay with home-cooked food and local rice wine.

- Day 4
Mai Chau - Ninh Binh
You'll say goodbye to your hosts and cycle from Mai Chau through Mai Hai to Co Luong, passing farmers with buffalo and friendly waves from locals. It's mostly green fields, limestone mountains, and calm waterways. The bus takes you along Ho Chi Minh Road to Ninh Binh, where you can choose to cycle an extra 36 km around the area or just relax at your hotel.

Ninh Binh - Tam Coc - Hoa Lu - Nam Dinh
Cycling from Ninh Binh to Tam Coc puts you under massive limestone peaks rising over rice paddies and peaceful rivers with boats. You'll see Hoa Lu, the ancient 10th-century capital under the Dinh Dynasty, with 17th-century restored temples showing incredible architecture. Lunch happens at the Dinh or Le Temple, then the bus brings you back. After an early dinner, you transfer to Nam Dinh for an overnight train heading to Hue.

Hue
You'll arrive in Hue this morning and cycle through the former imperial capital, checking out temples, bunkers, tombs, and pagodas in the countryside. The Imperial Citadel and Forbidden Purple City have foliage-covered ruins showing Tet Offensive damage from the Vietnam War. Spending time at a local cafe gives you a chance to experience Hue's food scene, considered Vietnam's best and shaped by imperial and Buddhist influences with solid vegetarian options.

Hue - Hai Van Pass - Hoi An
This day brings challenging climbing as you tackle the Hai Van Pass to reach Hoi An. The highway winds through the Truong Son Mountains at 500m elevation with 5-10% grades and offers views across Danang Bay. You'll stop several times to catch your breath and take in the scenery. Hoi An has lantern-lit streets, markets, tailor shops, artisans, and temples with recently earned UNESCO status, looking much like it did a century ago.

Hoi An
Your leader takes you on a walking tour through Hoi An checking out Chinese influence through pagodas and assembly halls. You'll visit a historic trader's house, the Japanese Covered Bridge, a Chinese assembly hall, and a museum. The afternoon's free to cycle to the beach, visit tailor shops for custom work, or settle in for happy hour. Hoi An's packed with shopping options including original paintings, leather goods, handcrafted woodwork, ceramics, and lanterns.

You're heading south on Highway One through a less-crowded route past paddy fields and wheat drying for Hoi Beer. You'll cycle into Quy Nhon, a coastal city with long beach stretches and relaxed boulevards that doesn't see many visitors. It's the place to connect with locals and experience real coastal life. The evening's free to explore however you want.

Quy Nhon - Nha Trang
This is one of the trip's most dramatic cycling stretches with the highway hugging huge granite cliffs offering sea views. You're following parts of the Reunification Railway alongside horizons full of islands and lagoons. By evening you'll roll into Nha Trang with its palm-lined beaches and island-dotted bay. The city's known for reliable weather, good nightlife, and solid diving options.

Nha Trang - Islands
Today you're trading your bike for a boat to explore nearby islands, often considered the trip's high point. You'll start on the main boat then transfer to a small basket boat to visit a fishing village. Snorkelling in turquoise waters comes with fresh seafood for lunch. The afternoon's yours to relax in a deck chair, swim again, or try a mud bath to help sore muscles recover.

Nha Trang - Bidoup-Nui Ba Pass - Dalat
You're heading up through the Bidoup-Nui Ba Pass into the cooler South-Central Highlands where Vietnam grows its best fruits, flowers, and coffee. The road's winding and steep with the option to cycle the whole mountain or catch the bus for easier access. Either way, you'll see magnificent summit views. From there you descend to Dalat, called the 'City of Eternal Spring' for its mild climate and lakes, palaces, pine-covered hills, and flower gardens.

Dalat
You're starting with a Dalat city tour visiting Bao Dai's regal summer palace, the final emperor's residence until 1945. You'll hit the train station and central market before heading to Di Linh where tea plantations cover the hills. Then you cycle down the forest-lined Gia Bac Pass toward Phan Thiets beaches.

Your last morning has you riding along the beach to Lang Long, soaking in coastal views. After a picnic lunch, you'll continue cycling to Cu Bi where you hand over your bike. The minivan takes over for the final stretch to Ho Chi Minh City where old and new blend together. By evening you could hit Ben Thanh market's food stalls or grab a Beer Hoi with the group.

Ho Chi Minh City - Mekong Delta
You're driving to the Mekong Delta, Vietnam's 'rice bowl' famous for tropical fruit, flowers, and scenic canal views. Your first full cycling day runs on quiet backroads past farms and villages with a lunch stop. You'll visit local orchards and cottage industries. As the sun sets, you'll boat up a canal to reach your homestay with a local family and home-cooked dinner of regional specialties.
