- Day 1
Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park
You'll leave Dar es Salaam city center early in a 4x4 vehicle and head toward Mikumi National Park to kick off your safari. The drive takes you through changing landscapes as you move inland. Once you arrive at Camp Bastian Tented Camp, you'll settle in for dinner and your first night in the park.

Landmarks Mikumi National Park - Day 2
Mikumi National Park to Ruaha National Park
This morning starts before sunrise with a 2-hour game drive through Mikumi National Park, where you might spot wildlife moving in the cooler hours. Back at the lodge by mid-morning, you'll have a late breakfast. After that, you'll drive about 5 hours to Ruaha National Park, Tanzania's largest. The journey takes you through varied terrain and small settlements. Once you check in at your lodge, that's your base for the night.

Landmarks Mikumi National Park Ruaha National Park - Day 3
Ruaha National Park
You're spending the entire day on safari in Ruaha National Park, focusing on the areas around the great Ruaha River, Mwagusi Sand River, and Mdonya River. Throughout the day you'll look for buffalo, elephants, lions, leopards, antelopes, and different bird species. Lunch happens in the field so you don't miss any wildlife activity. You'll continue driving until sunset around 6:30 pm, then head back to the hilltop lodge for dinner and overnight.

Ruaha National Park to Mikumi
You'll wake early and head out for a morning game drive in Ruaha that runs until 8:30 am. Back at the lodge, you'll have breakfast and rest a bit. After breakfast, there's another game drive until lunchtime. By early afternoon you'll begin the drive back to Camp Bastian in Mikumi town, arriving with time to settle in before dinner and your overnight stay.

Mikumi to Dar es Salaam
After breakfast, you'll start the 5 to 6 hour drive back to Dar es Salaam. The route takes you back through the same landscapes and colorful villages you saw on the way out, but there's always something different to notice. You'll stop once for lunch along the way. When you arrive in Dar es Salaam, your Kihindo Tours & Safaris representative will help you get to your next stop, whether that's the ferry, airport, or your hotel.
