Sansepolcro
You'll hike along the Tiber through the Valtiberina, one of Italy's most intensively farmed valleys and famous for the tobacco that goes into Tuscan cigars. The walk stays on the plain the whole time, using country roads or paths that run parallel to the river. Fields and pastures alternate with riverside vegetation - poplars and willows create a green corridor. Watch for wildlife too, especially birds like falcons, Montagu's harriers, gray herons, little egrets, night herons, and moorhens.
