    You'll arrive in Christchurch and have the afternoon and early evening to wander around the city at your own pace, getting a feel for the local community. This evening your driver guide will meet you along with the other travelers for a briefing about the trip ahead and some drinks to kick things off.

  2. Day 2

    Christchurch to Omarama

    This morning you'll see Christchurch's key spots including the Cardboard Cathedral and the Botanic Gardens. After that, you're heading across the Canterbury Plains to Geraldine where you'll stop at Barkers Store to try some local cheese. From there the route takes you along the East Coast through the Waitaki Valley, finishing up in Omarama with Lake Benmore as your backdrop for the night.

You'll visit Tekapo on the shores of turquoise Lake Tekapo to see the Church of the Good Shepherd, and from there it's through the Canterbury Plains back to Christchurch.

    Optional activities should be scheduled in advance and not as the tour progresses. That way we can know whether or not we can get the activity. If not, it can be scheduled online. I had no access to these activities from Tour Radars website and didn’t know they existed. Luckily I scheduled on my own and got to see what I wanted. Others did not.

    This was my first trip on a guided tour. Was feeling nervous - but it ended up being a great experience. Everything went smoothly. The cost for both dates is currently $8,879.00 per person for twin share or $11,592.00 for a guaranteed single room. Single Room: Guarantees a private room for the duration of the trip, at an additional cost. Twin Share Room: Pairs you with a same-gender roommate at no extra charge. If we are unable to assign a roommate by the start of the trip, the single supplement fee will not apply.
