Auckland
You'll land in Auckland today and get settled at your hotel. After the flight, the rest of your day opens up for either taking it easy or wandering around the city on your own. Auckland's got plenty to see if you want to head out, or you can just stay nearby and get your bearings.

- Day 2
Auckland to Bay of Islands
Head north from Auckland toward the Bay of Islands, arriving in Paihia. Once there, you'll check out the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, the historic spot where New Zealand's founding document was signed. After that, take a short tour through Russell, the country's first capital, which sits right on the water with lots of old architecture and local character.

Bay of Islands
This morning you'll go on the Discover the Bay and Hole in the Rock cruise, which takes you out to see the islands, watch for marine wildlife, and get up close to the dramatic rock formations scattered throughout the bay. The afternoon is yours to do whatever you'd like, whether that's trying another activity or just relaxing by the waterfront.

- Day 4
Bay of Islands to Rotorua
You'll drive south through rolling green countryside and scenic valleys on your way to Rotorua. The route itself is worth the drive. By afternoon you'll check in to your accommodation in Rotorua, which is known for its geothermal hot springs and strong Maori heritage.

- Day 5
Rotorua
Start early with a scenic flight that takes you over Rotorua's volcanic landscape, giving you a different perspective on the area's geology. The afternoon is free to explore the town's various geothermal parks and attractions on your own time. Come evening, you'll head to a local Maori village for a cultural performance and a traditional hangi dinner, which is a great way to learn about the local traditions and hospitality.

Rotorua to Auckland
Leave Rotorua and travel to Waitomo Caves, where you'll do a guided tour through the underground passages lit by thousands of glowworms hanging from the ceilings. It's a surreal experience walking through those caves in the dark with just the glow above you. After the caves, you'll drive back toward Auckland for your final night.

Auckland
Your time in New Zealand wraps up today. You'll get a transfer to Auckland Airport for your onward flight, bringing your journey to a close.
