Itinerary
- Day 1
London to Aberystwyth
Head west from London through the Cotswolds and stop in Burford to stretch your legs before crossing into Wales. You'll spend time in Hay-on-Wye checking out the famous bookshops that fill this small town, then drive through the Elan Valley where you can see the reservoirs and quiet countryside. After that, the route climbs through the Cambrian Mountains with nice views on the way to Aberystwyth, your first night on the coast.

Snowdonia National Park - Aberystwyth
Travel north into Snowdonia National Park and explore Beddgelert, a village known for its old legend about a dog and a prince. Next you'll visit Harlech Castle, which sits high above the sea and was built in medieval times as a UNESCO site. Later, head back to Aberystwyth with free time to ride the Victorian funicular railway up the hillside for views over the bay.

Aberystwyth to Tenby
Drive south along Cardigan Bay's coastline and stop in Aberaeron and New Quay, where you might see dolphins or whales from the shore depending on the season. Move inland to Dinefwr Estate and check out the medieval castle and Georgian house on the grounds. Before heading to Tenby for the night, visit Dylan Thomas's Boathouse in Laugharne, where the writer lived and worked.

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park - Tenby
Spend the day in Pembrokeshire Coast National Park starting with St Davids, which is Britain's smallest cathedral city and home to a beautiful medieval cathedral. Then you have options: visit Pembroke Castle where Henry VII was born, or stay near Tenby for seaside time with possible boat trips to Caldey Island or a walk through Tenby Castle ruins.

Tenby to London via Cotswolds
Leave Wales and head south to St Fagans National Museum of History near Cardiff where you can see historic buildings and learn about traditional Welsh crafts. Cross into England over the Severn Estuary and stop in Castle Combe, a village that's quite beautiful with stone cottages and a valley setting. From there, drive back to London to end the trip.
