Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Cape Town

    Your driver will meet you at Cape Town International Airport and take you to your hotel for check-in. Once you've settled in, you're free to walk around the nearby neighborhoods and get a feel for South Africa's first city. The afternoon and evening are yours to explore at your own pace.

  2. Day 2

    Cape Town

    Start the day at Castle of Good Hope, the 17th-century colonial fortress, then move on to District Six Museum to see its historical collection. From there, head to Bo-Kaap and walk the cobbled streets lined with those famous colorful houses. You'll tour the Houses of Parliament, City Hall, and Company's Garden before stopping at the Slave Lodge museum. By late afternoon, make your way to Table Mountain, South Africa's iconic 1,084-meter peak. The rest of your evening is open for further exploration on your own.

  3. Day 3

    Cape Town

    Head out to the coastal town of Hout Bay and take a boat trip to Duiker Island to see seabirds and fur seals. The drive along Chapman's Peak Drive offers dramatic scenery as you travel to Cape Point, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. Ride the funicular up to the 1860 lighthouse, then continue north to Simon's Town. Stop at Boulders Beach to see endangered African penguins up close. End your day at Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden on Table Mountain's eastern slope before heading back to your hotel.

    Cape Town to Port Elizabeth to Lalibela Game Reserve

    Catch an early morning flight from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth (80 minutes). Your driver will meet you and drive you about 1.5 hours to Lalibela Game Reserve, a malaria-free wildlife sanctuary with the Big Five. After checking in at the lodge and having a welcome drink, you'll get an introduction to how the safari works. Once you've had a short rest, you'll join your first game drive with an experienced local ranger.

    Start with a morning game drive in an open vehicle searching for the Big Five (lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard) and other plain game like zebra, impala, wildebeest, eland, and various predators. Back at the lodge, you'll have breakfast, then spend time relaxing by the pool or doing bird watching from the observation deck. Another game drive happens in the afternoon to increase your chances of seeing wildlife.

    This was a very enjoyable trip. Our driver in Morandava was excellent and really good at driving on the bad roads. A truly memorable trip. He had limited English but we really enjoyed our time with him. He was helpful in giving advice in relation to how much we should pay for things in Morandava. Only negative was with our driver in Antananarivo. He collected us very early from our hotel to go to the palace. We arrived at the hotel at 1am and he picked us up at 10am. We would have no issue with this but for he had no plans with what to do with us! We went shopping and to the palace and finished at 1pm. Our flight was until midnight and he had no suggestions of what to do. Ultimately we went for lunch and more shopping. We finished at 4pm and he tried to drop us to the airport! 8 and half hours before our flight. He dropped us off in a Ibis hotel for a drink to pass time but we were so bored we went to the airport for around 7. We couldn't check into our flight for hours. I also paid extra for a night transfer because of our late flight. It's annoying because we could've stayed in the hotel and enjoyed the pool longer in the morning instead of starting at 10. The itinerary also states two dinners included but we received only one.
