You'll land at Lungi International Airport and catch a sea ferry across to Freetown. Once you get to your hotel and settle in, there's a welcome dinner waiting with live music and a cultural briefing from your local guide to get you oriented.

Landmarks/POIs Lungi International Airport - Day 2
Freetown Heritage
Start with the Cotton Tree, one of Freetown's most recognizable sites, then head to the National Museum to get some context on the city's history. From there, you'll check out Fourah Bay College, which happens to be the oldest Western-style university in West Africa. In the afternoon, wander through the historic Krio neighborhoods and finish up at the Big Market where you can pick up souvenirs and local art.

Bunce Island
After breakfast, take a boat out to Bunce Island, a sobering place that once functioned as a slave trading post and now serves as a memorial. A guided walk through the ruins will connect you with the stories and history of the site. You'll return in the evening and have a quiet dinner to process what you've seen.

Village Cultural Experience
Travel inland to a nearby Krio or Temne village for a traditional welcome from locals. During your time there, you'll try your hand at traditional cooking, take drumming lessons, learn about palm wine tapping, and hear stories from community members about daily life and culture in Sierra Leone.
