Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kilimanjaro International Airport to Moshi

Touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport and head to Moshi for the night. You'll get your accommodation sorted and have time to rest up before things get serious. This is when you'll meet your guides, go over the climb logistics, and make sure all your gear is in order. Evening gives you a chance to grab dinner and get acclimated to the area at roughly 2,500 feet elevation.

    Start point
Moshi, Kilimanjaro, Tanzania (Main Enterance, 00:00 - 00:00)
    Landmarks
    Kilimanjaro International Airport
  2. Day 2

    Moshi to Simba Camp

Drive from Moshi to Nalemuru in the morning, then your trek officially starts on the Marangu Route. The trail to Simba Camp is fairly gentle as you move through cultivated farmland and forest. By afternoon you'll reach Simba Camp at about 7,870 feet, where you'll set up for the night. Your guides will brief you on altitude acclimatization and what to expect over the coming days.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Trek to Simba Camp
    Landmarks
    Mount Kilimanjaro
  3. Day 3

Simba Camp to Second Cave Camp

From Simba Camp, the path climbs steadily toward Second Cave Camp through dense forest. You're gaining real elevation now, moving to around 9,380 feet. The trek takes most of the day with breaks built in for acclimatization. By evening you'll reach Second Cave Camp and notice the vegetation starting to change as you move out of the forest zone.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Trek to Second Cave Camp
    Landmarks
    Mount Kilimanjaro
  4. Day 4

Second Cave Camp to Kikelewa Camp

Today's hike goes from Second Cave Camp up to Kikelewa Camp, pushing you higher to about 10,825 feet. The forest gradually thins out and you'll start seeing alpine meadow vegetation. It's a moderate day in terms of distance, but the altitude is really noticeable now. Your body will be working harder, so your guides keep the pace deliberate and manageable.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Trek to Kikelewa Camp
    Landmarks
    Mount Kilimanjaro
  5. Day 5

Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp

Leave Kikelewa Camp heading for Mawenzi Tarn Camp at roughly 13,500 feet. The landscape changes dramatically into high alpine terrain with sparse vegetation. You'll get views of Mawenzi Peak on your left as you trek across the moorland. Sleep at this elevation is the focus now, letting your body adjust before the final push.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Trek to Mawenzi Tarn Camp
    Landmarks
    Mount Kilimanjaro
    Mawenzi Peak
  6. Day 6

Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Camp

Trek from Mawenzi Tarn to Kibo Camp, positioned at about 15,100 feet on the saddle between the two main peaks. The air gets noticeably thinner and the landscape becomes barren and rocky. This is a shorter trekking day because your guides need you rested for tomorrow's summit attempt. You'll spend the afternoon and evening resting and eating light meals.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Trek to Kibo Camp
    Landmarks
    Mount Kilimanjaro
  7. Day 7

Kibo Camp to Uhuru Camp to Horombo Hut Camp

Start before midnight from Kibo Camp for the summit push. You'll climb through darkness with headlamps, following the rocky trail toward Uhuru Peak at 19,341 feet. Reaching the summit means standing at the highest point in Africa around dawn, with Horombo Hut as your destination afterward. After photos and celebration at the peak, you descend to Horombo for rest at 12,200 feet.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Summit attempt to Uhuru Camp
    • Descent to Horombo Hut Camp
    Landmarks
    Mount Kilimanjaro
    Uhuru Peak
  8. Day 8

Horombo Hut Camp to Mandara Hut to Marangu Gate to Moshi

Your legs will definitely feel the descent today. Head down from Horombo Hut through Mandara Hut, then exit the mountain at Marangu Gate where you'll collect your certificates. The path back down is steep and your knees will remind you of it, but the scenery gets greener as you lose altitude. From Marangu Gate, transfer back to Moshi for a hot shower and real bed.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Trek to Mandara Hut
    • Trek to Marangu Gate

  9. Day 9

    Moshi to Kilimanjaro International Airport

Early morning drive from Moshi back to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight. The journey takes about an hour depending on traffic. You'll have time for a light breakfast before heading out, and your driver will get you there with plenty of time before check-in.

We did our Kilimanjaro tour with Kwesa Tours - simply fantastic! Our guides Haji and Tuliza were professional, cordial and guided us safely to the summit. The organization, catering and the entire team were top-notch. An unforgettable experience - absolutely recommendable!

I climbed the 6-day Machame Route with Killi Economy, and the whole experience was incredible from start to finish. Edward, the owner, was fantastic, really helpful with the booking process and always quick to communicate, which made everything smooth and stress-free. On the mountain, the crew were absolutely amazing. Our chief guides Haji and Tulisa kept us safe, motivated, and confident the whole way. The food from Martin and Abeli was far beyond what I expected on a mountain and gave us the energy we needed every day. On summit night, Innocent, our summit porter, along with Tulisa helped me massively in getting through the final stretch with their encouragement helping me in reaching the top when I needed it most. Every single member of the team worked so hard, setting up camp, carrying gear, and lifting our spirits. Without them, I wouldn’t have reached the summit. This was truly the adventure of a lifetime, and I can’t recommend Killi Economy highly enough. I have made some memories to last a lifetime.
