Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Beijing
Your guide will meet you when you land in Beijing and get you to your hotel. After that, the day is open for you to either walk around the city on your own or rest up from the flight, whatever works better for you.

- Day 2
Beijing
Start the morning at the Temple of Heaven, then head into Beijing's traditional hutongs where you'll do a Peking Opera mask-painting workshop. From there, walk through Tiananmen Square, and finish the day exploring the Forbidden City before heading back.

Beijing
Travel out to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, which is one of the better-preserved spots. You'll take a cable car up and back down for some nice views of the wall and surrounding area. On your way back into the city, stop by the National Stadium and Water Cube to grab some photos of the Olympic venues.

Beijing to Datong
Spend the morning at the Summer Palace exploring the imperial gardens and walking around Kunming Lake. There's a boat ride included to see more of the grounds. Later, you'll catch a high-speed train to Datong and have the rest of the afternoon to check out the city yourself.

Datong
See the Yungang Grottoes this morning, a UNESCO World Heritage site with Buddhist statues carved right into the cliff faces. After lunch, head to Huayan Temple and Shanhua Temple to look around, then take time to see the Nine-Dragon Screen, one of China's largest glazed tile murals.

Datong
Check out the Hanging Temple, a wooden structure built right into a cliff face that's quite something to see. In the afternoon, visit Yong'an Temple, which has a quiet, peaceful feel and lots of historical detail to it.

Datong to Taiyuan
See the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, the oldest and tallest wooden pagoda in China. Then walk through Chongfu Temple, an important Buddhist site with history, before heading to Yanmen Pass, which was a major point along the ancient Great Wall.

Taiyuan to Pingyao
Tour the Wang Family Compound, a large estate from the Qing dynasty that belonged to merchants. After that, visit Zhenguo Temple to see its old wooden structures and enjoy the calm atmosphere around the grounds.

Pingyao to Xi'an
Spend your morning walking through Pingyao Ancient City, a UNESCO-listed walled town with Ming and Qing architecture still standing. Before you leave for Xi'an, stop at Shuanglin Temple to see the painted sculptures there. Later, you'll head to Xi'an for the next part of your trip.

- Day 10
Xi'an
See the Terracotta Army with its life-sized warriors and horses from the Qin Dynasty. Visit the factory next door to see how they make replicas. Then explore the Bell Tower in the city and walk through the Muslim Quarter, which has great street food and a lively atmosphere.

Xi'an Departure
Walk through Gao Family Courtyard to see a traditional Chinese residence, then visit Big Wild Goose Pagoda and its North Square, a significant Buddhist landmark. After, you'll head to the airport for your departure home.
