- Day 1
Leh
You'll arrive at Leh Airport and get settled at your hotel. Spend the day letting your body adjust to the altitude, which is important at this elevation. By evening, head up to the white-domed Shanti Stupa on a hilltop for views over the city. After that, walk through the local market where you'll find authentic Tibetan handicrafts including prayer wheels, stoles, and pashmina shawls.

- Day 2
Leh
Following breakfast, head to Sham Valley to see the war memorial that honors soldiers from the Indo-Pak wars. From there, continue to Kali Mata Mandir, then stop at the 11th-century Spituk Gompa Buddhist monastery. You'll also visit Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, which was built to honor Guru Nanak Dev's 1517 visit. Next comes the optical illusion at Magnetic Hills before you drive to where the Indus and Zanskar Rivers meet, then return to your hotel.

Leh to Nubra Valley
After breakfast, drive north toward Nubra Valley (called Ldumra, the valley of flowers). You'll cross Khardungla Pass at 18,360 ft/5,598 m, which is the world's highest motorable pass, and go over a glacier bridge that's listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. Once you reach Nubra Valley at roughly 10,000 ft/3,048 m altitude, check into your camp for the night.

Nubra Valley to Leh
From camp after breakfast, head to the silver sand dunes at Hunder (10,000 ft/3,048 m) where the Shyok and Nubra Rivers meet. You'll ride double-humped Bactrian camels, which are relics from the ancient Silk Route trade and found only in this valley. Stop at the oldest Diskit Monastery perched on a hilltop, home to an enormous Buddha statue with panoramic views across the valley. Browse the Diskit village market, then drive back to Leh via Khardung-La Pass for your overnight stay.

Leh to Pangong TSO Lake
Leave early with packed breakfast for Pangong TSO Lake at 4,350 m/14,272 ft altitude, the world's highest saltwater lake. The striking blue waters create a dramatic contrast against the surrounding arid mountains. You'll see Shey Palace (the former summer palace of Ladakh's king) and Thiksey Monastery on a hill with Indus valley views. Cross Changla Pass at 5,486 m/17,999 ft, stop at Tangtse village for tea, then continue to Pangong Lake. Check into camp and visit the lake if time allows.

Pangong TSO Lake to Leh
Spend your morning after breakfast exploring Pangong TSO Lake and the surrounding areas. In the afternoon, drive back toward Leh. Along the way, visit Hemis Gompa monastery (45 km from Leh), which was re-established in 1672 by Ladakhi king Sengge Namgyal. The monastery hosts the annual Hemis festival honoring Padmasambhava in early June. Check in at your hotel in Leh, and you'll have free time for shopping in the local market.
