Arrival in São Miguel
Your plane touches down on São Miguel and you'll get transferred to your hotel. Use this time to settle in and get oriented before diving into the island.

Ponta Delgada
Head into the island's capital to see the whitewashed buildings and black basalt stonework that give the city its character. You'll walk through the central market square, check out the ornate church facades and Portas da Cidade gate, then stroll by the marina and through the colorful market hall where local vendors sell fresh produce and crafts.

Caldeira Velha - Ribeira Grande
The day takes you through mountainous terrain to Caldeira Velha, where natural hot springs feed a forest bathing pool under a waterfall. After that, you'll see Ribeira Grande with its riverside park and local cafes, visit a family-run pottery workshop to watch artisans shape clay by hand, and tour the Casa da Cultura museum to learn about regional traditions.

- Day 4
Pineapple Plantation
Drive out to Sete Cidades in the western part of the island where two volcanic lakes sit 250 meters up with striking blue and green water. At Vista do Rei viewpoint you'll hear local legends about the landscape, then head to a pineapple plantation to see how the fruit grows and taste their house-made pineapple liqueur.

- Day 5
Terra Nostra Park - Tea Plantation
Explore Furnas Valley with its geysers and volcanic steam vents rising from the ground. Lunch brings you cozido das Furnas, a traditional stew cooked underground using geothermal heat at a local restaurant. Later you'll walk through Terra Nostra park with its magnolias and azaleas, and there's a hot spring-fed pond if you want to swim. The day ends at a 19th-century tea plantation where you'll see how they process tea and get to taste it fresh.

This optional excursion takes you east to Salto do Cavalo viewpoint for views down to the crater lake and south coast. You'll drive through wild terrain to Ponta da Madrugada with its park-like setting and flower gardens, then explore Povoação's waterfront and pedestrian zone to get a feel for local life.
