Itinerary

    Optional Activities

    • Taxi from train station to hotel
  2. Day 2

    Avignon

Start with a guided tour through Avignon's history, walking through narrow streets to reach the market hall where Patrick Blanc's vertical garden covers the walls. You'll see Place de l'Horloge and then the Papal Palace, which dominates the skyline from the 14th century. After crossing the famous Saint-Bénézet bridge with Mont Ventoux visible in the distance, you'll have free time to wander back to your hotel and explore on your own.

    Camargue

Spend the day in the Camargue between the Rhône's two arms, where you'll spot black bulls, white horses, and pink flamingos in this protected area. Meet local gardians (the traditional horsemen) and other residents, then experience the Mediterranean lifestyle in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. The landscape here is unlike anything else in Provence, flat and wild with salt marshes everywhere.

The tour guide was great, organized, highly motivated, extensive knowledge. The hotels were ok, the rooms varied, obviously the cheap option within the hotels. The choice of flights was catastrophic. Instead of direct flights, there were stopovers with long waiting times, we were practically on the road for a whole day each time. The flight from Vienna to Edinborough also had to be rebooked, but this was not the responsibility of the travel agency.
