  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu

    You'll arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport where an Alpine Club of Himalaya representative will be waiting to meet you. After checking into your hotel and settling in, you'll have a special welcome dinner with authentic Nepalese food to kick things off.

  2. Day 2

    Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding

    A domestic flight takes you from Kathmandu to Lukla, flying through the Himalayan landscape before touching down at this mountain gateway. Once you land and take a brief break, the trekking begins through woodland trails down to Phakding. From the village of Cheplung, you'll spot Mt. Khumbila, known locally as the 'God of Khumbu'.

  3. Day 3

    Phakding to Namche Bazaar

    Your route heads toward Namche Bazaar, the heart of Sherpa culture and trade in the region. You'll cross several suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River, pass through Benkar and Chumoa, and catch views of Mt. Thamserku at 21,675 feet. After entering Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo, the trail climbs steeply into Namche with views of Everest, Lhotse, and surrounding peaks.

  4. Day 4

    Namche Bazaar

    Today's an acclimatization day in Namche. Before sunrise, you'll walk around the village to watch the mountains light up. After breakfast, trek up to Khumjung, stopping at various viewpoints for mountain vistas. Lunch comes at the Everest View Hotel, then you'll visit Khumjung School (built by Edmund Hillary) and the monastery that holds what locals believe is a yeti skull. Head back to Namche for sunset.

    Namche Bazaar to Tengboche

    Trek toward Tengboche along an easy ridge path from Chhorkung with panoramic mountain views opening up. You'll pass through Kyangjuma and reach the Sanasa trail junction before heading to Lawichasa with Ama Dablam visible. The path descends to Phunki Thenga then climbs steeply through a forest of tall rhododendrons where you might spot wildlife. A Kani gate and pair of Chortens mark Tengboche village. Check in and visit the monastery.

    Tengboche to Dingboche

    A downhill trek through deep forest of conifers, birch, and rhododendrons brings you to Debouche. You'll cross the rushing Imja Khola and head into the Imja Valley. Trek to Pangboche at 3,900 meters, the highest permanent settlement here, then continue into high mountain country with bare landscapes. After crossing a wooden bridge where two rivers meet, a steep climb takes you to Dingboche at 4,530 meters with sweeping peak views.

  7. Day 7

    Dingboche

    Your second acclimatization day in Dingboche starts before dawn at a viewpoint for sunrise. After lunch, trek to Nangkartsang Peak, one of the best vantage points in the Khumbu. The climb's not technical but altitude will challenge you, so you'll take it slow with frequent rests. From the summit, you'll see the Imja Valley, Mt. Makalu, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Island Peak, Ama Dablam, and the Imja Glacier. Head back down to Dingboche.

    Trek across high mountain terrain with stony trails to Chhukung. After a brief rest, you'll climb Chhukung Ri, a non-technical ascent that altitude might make demanding. Take frequent breaks and stay hydrated. The summit rewards you with views of Ama Dablam, Imja Tse, Nuptse, Makalu, Lhotse, Cholatse, and several other major peaks. Retrace your steps back to Chhukung.

    Chhukung to Lobuche via Kongma La Pass

    Start early since mountain weather shifts quickly. Trek across high terrain toward Kongma La Pass, one of the hardest passes on this route. You'll see Nuptse ridge, Kongmatse glaciers, and Pokalde peak. A steep climb brings you to the pass at 5,535 meters. From the top, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Island Peak, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Everest, Pumori, Nuptse, and Lhotse fill the horizon. Descend to Lobuche, a small yak pastureland, and catch sunset from your tea house.

    Lobuche to Everest Base Camp via Gorak Shep

    Head out early to cover good distance across high pasture lands and rocky terrain. A 200-foot climb brings you to Thangma Riju on the moraine wall of Changri Glacier where a 360-degree view shows Taboche, Lobuche peaks, Pumori, and Himalayan peaks with Tibet visible. Cross the glacier moraine to Gorak Shep. After dropping heavy backpacks, trek to Everest Base Camp, passing turquoise Gorak Shep Lake with Changtse visible in Tibet. Cross glaciers and frozen pools to reach the base camp, then return to Gorak Shep.

    Gorak Shep to Dzongla via Kala Patthar

    Wake before dawn for the trek to Kala Patthar at 5,545 meters, a famous viewpoint and non-technical climb (altitude's still a factor though). From the summit, you'll have Everest, Pumori, Nuptse, Changtse, Ama Dablam, Taweche, Kantega, Lhotse, and Everest Base Camp at the Khumbu Ice Fall framed before you. Spend time soaking it in, then walk back down to Gorak Shep. After resting, trek onward to Dzongla at the base of Cho-La Pass.

    Dzongla to Thangnak via Cho-La Pass

    After an early breakfast, head west toward Cho-La Pass at 5,420 meters, one of the valley's highest points. The climb will test your endurance and strength, with rocks that might be icy and rough. Along the way, you'll see Chola Lake and Mt. Ama Dablam. Reaching the pass brings a rush of accomplishment. After taking in the views at the top, make your way down toward Thangnak.

    Thangnak to Gokyo

    Head toward Gokyo village, trekking uphill with views of Tanjung Tsho Lake at 4,710 meters. You'll trek along the Ngozumpa Glacier, Nepal's longest at over 36 kilometers. After crossing the glacier, Gokyo Lake comes into view. The serenity of the emerald waters and surrounding peaks makes this stretch special as you make your way to Gokyo village.

    Gokyo

    Explore the Gokyo region starting before dawn to catch the Himalayan sunrise. After breakfast, trek to see the series of Gokyo Lakes, the world's highest freshwater lake system with six main lakes and associated wetlands recognized as a Ramsar site. The emerald green lakes near the tea house are striking. Trek 3 kilometers north to the 4th lake, then continue to the 5th. Visit Scoundrel's Viewpoint at the lake's edge for views of Cho-Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, and the Ngozumba Glacier. Optionally trek to Gokyo Ri for epic panoramic views (non-technical but altitude challenging).

    Gokyo to Marlung via Renjo La Pass

    Start before dawn for your final high pass trek. Follow the trail at Gokyo Lake's end with views of Everest, Lhotse, Cholatse, and Taboche. Climb to Renjo La Pass and reach the top for 360-degree views of Mt. Cho-Oyu and towering peaks. Trek downhill to frozen lakes below the pass. Continue to Lungdeng village, then trek to Marlung above the Bhote Koshi River. Along the way, the Mahalangur Himalayan and Rolwaling ranges come into view.

    Monjo to Lukla
