Arrival in Beijing
You'll get transferred to your hotel after arriving in Beijing. Later in the evening, head out to Wangfujing Street, which is a busy pedestrian shopping area with lots of restaurants and shops. It's a good way to get your first feel for the city. Dinner is included, then you'll return to settle in for the night.

- Day 2
Great Wall, 798 Art District, Temple of Heaven, Beijing
This day covers several of Beijing's major attractions. Start by taking the cable car up the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall for views of this 2,000-year-old structure. Coming back, stop at the 798 Art District, a former military factory that's now filled with contemporary galleries and studios. After that, visit the Temple of Heaven, the large sacred complex where emperors performed ceremonies. Later you'll have a foot massage and Tai Chi class before ending with a traditional lacquered duck dinner.

- Day 3
Forbidden City, Jingshan Park, Tiananmen Square, Summer Palace, Hutong, Beijing
Today focuses on Beijing's imperial sites. You'll tour the Forbidden City, the grand palace complex where 24 emperors ruled. Head to Jingshan Park for views of the Forbidden City from Coal Hill (if weather allows). Walk through Tiananmen Square and see the Beijing Opera House. After lunch, explore the Summer Palace with its gardens and lakes, then take a tricycle through historic Hutong neighborhoods. You'll visit a traditional courtyard house to understand Beijing's architecture before heading back to your hotel.

- Day 4
Beijing to Nanjing
Board a high-speed train at Beijing station that travels 300 km/h, covering nearly 1,000 km in under four hours to reach Nanjing. This modern city of eight million people has a dynamic commercial feel. You'll visit Purple Mountain to see the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and the Linggu Temple, a Buddhist site surrounded by greenery. After that, you'll have free time to explore Nanjing at your own pace before checking into your accommodation.

- Day 5
Suzhou, Tongli, Shanghai
Travel to Suzhou and explore the Garden of the Humble Administrator, the largest and most famous garden in the city, with winding pathways, ponds, and greenery. You'll have free time to walk through Pingjiang Road with its canals, teahouses, and shops. After lunch, continue to Tongli, a water town with narrow canals, stone bridges, and traditional houses. A boat ride through the waterways follows before you head to Shanghai for the night.

- Day 6
Shanghai
Start by exploring Pudong, Shanghai's modern financial district across the Huangpu River with its tall skyscrapers and Pearl Tower. Take a scenic ferry for views of both sides of the city. Walk through the Old City and visit Yuyuan Garden, a preserved Ming Dynasty garden where you'll have a traditional tea ceremony. Continue to Xintiandi, a trendy neighborhood with boutiques and cafes. After lunch, explore Tianzifang with its maze-like alleys, craft shops, and art galleries. End your day walking The Bund with its colonial-era buildings. The afternoon offers free time, and you can take an optional evening boat trip to see the skyline lit up.

Shanghai to Luoyang
Head to the station for a 7:17 a.m. high-speed train departure. In just over five hours, you'll travel 1,000 km through countryside to Luoyang. Visit the Longmen Buddhist Caves, an archaeological site stretching over a kilometer with more than 100,000 Buddha statues and carvings. A boat ride along the river follows. After that, transfer to Luoyang to walk through its illuminated streets with traditional charm. Lunch is included for the day.

After lunch, pass by Mount Hua, one of China's holiest mountains known for dramatic peaks and spiritual significance. You'll arrive in Xian by late afternoon.

- Day 9
Xian
In the morning, visit the Terracotta Army, where thousands of life-sized clay soldiers stand guard over the tomb of China's first emperor. Return to Xian to see the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, a Buddhist structure standing for over a thousand years. Explore the city's walled center and walk through the Muslim Quarter with its Great Mosque, which reflects the blend of cultures that shaped China. Visit the Drum Tower and catch a traditional Chinese music performance on ancient instruments. You'll have free time afterward to explore on your own.

Depart Xian on a high-speed train, traveling 700 km in just over three hours to reach Chengdu. Upon arrival, visit the Panda Bear research center, where 120 giant pandas and 76 red pandas live. After lunch, stroll through People's Park, enjoy its small lake, watch locals practicing Tai Chi, and relax in traditional teahouses.

Return to Chengdu in the evening.

Chengdu to Zhaoxing
Your train departs at 7:38 a.m., traveling almost 1,000 km in just over five and a half hours through mountain scenery. You'll arrive in Congjiang, entering an area inhabited by ethnic minorities. Visit the Basha Miao Village with traditional wooden houses nestled in forest. This ethnic group is the only one authorized to carry firearms, as they were traditional bear hunters. Continue to Zhaoxing, the most important Dong minority town, with more than 800 traditional homes. A picnic lunch is included on the train.

Guilin
Spend a full day in Guilin, one of China's most popular cities with a pleasant setting on the banks of its lake and river Li. Visit the Reed Flute Cave with its fantastically shaped stalactites and stalagmites lit in beautiful colors, creating a spectacular underground world. The afternoon is free, so you might visit the Jingjiang Palace or explore the city at your own pace. You'll stay overnight in Guilin.

Stroll through town before continuing through central China to Huangyao, a magnificently preserved ancient city with small streets, old buildings, and temples. Walk through this charming area and experience daily life there before heading toward Guangzhou. You'll arrive at the end of the day.
