- Day 1
Phnom Penh
You'll arrive in Phnom Penh and spend your first day getting oriented to the city. Start with a cyclo-rickshaw ride through the bustling streets to see how locals move around the capital. Wat Ounalom temple, founded back in 1443, gives you a sense of Cambodia's spiritual side with its layout and history. From there, head up to Wat Phnom on the hilltop for views and more Buddhist temples. The evening wraps up with dinner at a local restaurant where you can try some Cambodian food.

Phnom Penh to Siem Reap
This is a travel day covering about 6 hours from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, though you'll stop along the way. The village of Skuon is known for a local food specialty that might surprise you: fried tarantula. After that, you'll visit Sambor Prei Kuk, which has three groups of brick towers with decorative details from before the Angkor period. The walk through the forest around these temples gives you a different feel from the main tourist sites. By evening you'll reach Siem Reap and check into your hotel.

Kampong Khleang
Today takes you to Kampong Khleang, a quieter village on the lake with traditional stilt houses. You'll board a boat and cruise through the canals to see the water and how people have built their homes here, adjusting them as water levels change with the seasons. There's a picnic lunch shared with villagers, then a walk around the village itself. By the afternoon, around 3 or 4 p.m., you'll head back to Siem Reap city centre.

Angkor Archaeological Park
A full day exploring temples around Siem Reap, starting with a tuk-tuk ride to Preah Khan. Built by King Jayavarman VII, this temple has complicated passages and sculptures you'll walk through. Next comes Ta Prohm, where you'll see what happens when a temple isn't fully restored and trees have grown through the structure. After lunch, you'll head to Angkor Thom and see its walls and gates. Inside, Bayon Temple stands out for all its carved faces. You'll also stop at Baphuon and Phimeanakas before finishing at the Terrace of the Elephants as the day winds down.

Angkor Wat
You're heading into the countryside today through villages and coconut palms to see how people live outside the main temples. Banteay Samre Temple is an old Hindu site from the Angkor period, and it leads to Banteay Srei, a smaller temple known for detailed carvings in pink sandstone from the 10th century. Along the route you'll learn about palm sugar production from local palms. The main event is Angkor Wat itself, the largest religious structure here and a UNESCO site. You'll spend time seeing its scale and design before the day ends.

Siem Reap Departure
Your last day focuses on local art and crafts. Start at Theam's Gallery, founded by artist Lim Muy Theam to keep Cambodian cultural traditions alive through art and handmade pieces. Then move to Senteurs d'Angkor, a company working with sustainable practices, selling candles, teas, incense, and balms made from local ingredients. You'll have time to shop and explore on your own before heading to the airport for your flight home.
