- Day 3
Barcelona to Madrid
Travel south along the Mediterranean coast and stop in Peniscola, a walled seaside town worth seeing. From there, continue to Valencia for a brief visit to the City of Arts and Sciences around 4:30 p.m. Then it's on to Madrid, arriving between 8:30-9:00 p.m. You'll transfer to Plaza Mayor for dinner at local restaurants.

Madrid
This morning covers central Madrid with stops at Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Neptuno, Puerta de Alcalá, Plaza de Colón, and Plaza Mayor. After that, you'll go to Retiro Park to see the lake and Palacio de Cristal. Included admission gets you into Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, home of Real Madrid. The afternoon is free, then you'll head back to your hotel.

Madrid to Granada
Depart early from Madrid heading south through La Mancha and stop in Puerto Lápice, a charming village tied to Don Quixote. Keep going through Despenaperros into Andalusia toward Granada, with lunch included. The afternoon is open for you to check out the Cathedral with tombs of the Catholic Monarchs, walk through Albaicín, or catch views of the Alhambra from San Nicolás viewpoint.

Lunch is on you, and then the afternoon is free to relax by the pool, in the garden, or shop in the souks. There's an optional Fantasy Party excursion available in the evening if you're interested.

Cross the Atlas Mountains leaving palm groves behind and passing small Berber villages perched on gorge edges. Stop at Ait Benhaddou, a fortified village famous for appearing in movies. Continue through dramatic biblical-like landscapes to Ouarzazate to see the impressive Kasbah. Travel through the Valley of Roses to reach Boumalne Dades, with dinner included.

Boumalne Dades to Erfoud
Journey through Sahara Desert landscapes including the Valley of the Kasbahs with river valleys, palm trees, rocky plains, and adobe villages. Visit the impressive Todgha Gorge with towering 100 plus meter walls on both sides. Stop at a small adobe town near Khorbat supported by the Europamundo Foundation (weather permitting). Lunch is included, and there's an optional off-road excursion for sunset in the sand dunes.

Erfoud to Fez
Depart early crossing the Atlas Mountains through dramatic gorges and landscapes. You'll traverse a high, chilly plateau inhabited by nomadic shepherds. Brief stop in Midelt, a commercial town known for agriculture. Lunch is included by a lake in the Middle Atlas. Enter forests where snow is common in winter, then visit the House of Cedars national park museum to learn about the region and see monkey colonies. Continue to Bhalil, a small Berber town with traditional cave houses. Arrive in Fez with views from Marinid Tombs, and dinner is included.

Fez
Tour Fez through the Bronze Gates of the Royal Palace, exploring the Jewish quarter, bustling souks, and the Tanners' Quarter. The Medina keeps its traditional Arab atmosphere really well. Lunch is included at a historic palace in the Medina. After that, you'll head north on a modern highway to Tangier, arriving by evening. Dinner is included.

Spend the morning in Tangier with free time for shopping. Then take a ferry back to Spain (the bus stays behind, so you'll carry your own luggage). You'll arrive in Algeciras or Tarifa and continue to Seville, arriving in the evening. Dinner is included.

In Mérida, you'll visit the included Archaeological Ensemble featuring a Roman Theater and Amphitheater, a World Heritage Site. There's time for lunch and a stroll through the vibrant pedestrian historic center. Continue to Portugal stopping in Évora, another World Heritage Site with whitewashed streets, Renaissance palaces, and a cathedral. Arrive in Lisbon by evening.
