Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Delhi
You'll arrive in Delhi and get settled at your hotel in New Delhi. If you've provided your flight details ahead of time, transfers from the airport will be arranged for you. Take the evening to rest and get oriented before your early start tomorrow.

- Day 2
Delhi to Leh
Very early morning departure, potentially leaving the hotel around 2am for your flight to Leh. The flight over the Himalayas offers incredible views as you climb to high altitude at 11,485ft/3,500m. After arriving, you'll keep things low-key with rest and sleep to adjust. In the afternoon, take a gentle walk through Leh and wander the bazaars to get your bearings.

- Day 3
Shey and Tikse Monasteries
Drive to Shey monastery to see the former palace of Ladakh's kings and visit a small temple with a 350-year-old copper-and-gold Buddha statue. Then walk roughly two hours across flat fields to Tikse monastery on a hilltop, with its distinctive red-and-white buildings. You'll walk through temples and courtyards, and can see the red-robed monks at work. Inside one temple stands a 50ft statue of the Future Buddha. Head back to Leh by evening.

- Day 4
Leh Valley Walk and Japanese Peace Pagoda
Start at the Old Royal Palace ruins on Namgyal Hill, then follow a curved path to Tsemo Monastery for nice views of Leh and the surrounding villages. From there, continue around the palace and through Sankar village to the Japanese Peace Pagoda, a large stupa that gives you great views across town toward Stok mountain range.

- Day 5
Leh to Yangtang
Leave Leh heading toward the Indus River with views of where the Zanskar meets the Indus. Stop at Basgo village to see an old fort and temples built into the mud cliffs. Continue to Likir to check out the well-maintained monastery that runs an active school for young monks. Then drive to Yangtang village at 12,083ft/3,683m, where you can walk around the village, visit the small school, and watch locals planting barley and potatoes with the Zanskar mountains in the distance.

Mountain Trek
Head north from Yangtang through impressive rock formations with striking erosion features and precariously balanced boulders. You'll reach your accommodation around lunchtime. In the afternoon, there's time to walk higher up the valley. This area is known for ibex sightings, and snow leopards have been spotted here occasionally.

- Day 7
Spangpo La Pass to Hemis Shukpachen
An easier trail day takes you to your first pass at Spangpo La, 13,392ft/4,082m, with nice views of the hills ahead and down into the valley below. From there you'll descend to Hemis Shukpachen village at 12,018ft/3,663m, a peaceful spot with a small monastery, green pastures, and a clear stream. Mid-afternoon, visit the monastery and wander the village.

Hemis Shukpachen to Temisgam
Cross grasslands heading northwest along field sides. You'll pass a chorten and walk by mature juniper trees before climbing gently to Mebtek La at 12,454ft/3,796m with views of pink and mauve mountains. After descending, zigzag up the mountainside to Lago La at 12,572ft/3,832m for beautiful views across the south side of Indus Valley. Arrive in Ang, then walk along the 4x4 track to Temisgam at 10,682ft/3,256m, the largest village on the trek with fertile fields, orchards, white-washed homes, castle ruins and temples.

Temisgam to Lamayuru
Trek from Temisgam to Bong Bong La at 11,910ft/3,630m, your last pass on the route. As you climb, you'll see wide views of Sham Valley with streams and Tia Monastery visible in the distance. Walk down to the nearest road at Khalsi where you'll be picked up and driven to Lamayuru. Before evening, take a short walk around the village to get oriented.

Landmarks Bong Bong La Tia Monastery - Day 10
Lamayuru to Alchi
Visit Lamayuru Monastery in the morning, an 11th-century site housing more than 150 monks and some of the largest traditional Buddhist paintings in the world. Journey across Moon Land, one of Ladakh's most distinctive landscapes known for erosion features and unusual colors. In the afternoon, reach Alchi and take a leisurely walk through the village, seeing barley fields and apple and apricot orchards.

Alchi to Leh
In the morning, visit Alchi Monastery, an 11th-century complex built by Tibetan translator Richen Zangpo on the plains rather than a hilltop like other Ladakh monasteries. You'll see the Kashmiri-style assembly hall and wall paintings depicting Ladakh kings in a blend of Buddhist and Kashmiri styles. After your visit, drive back to Leh and check into your hotel for the night.

Landmarks Alchi Monastery - Day 12
Leh to Hanle
Drive to Hanle village, named after the Hanle River and known as the world's highest stargazing location. If you're interested in stargazing, you'll have free opportunities to view stars and constellations under the night sky. After spending time with locals, you'll stay at Hanle's hotel. The village has historical significance as the place where King Singge Namgyal is believed to have died while returning from an excursion with the Mongols.

- Day 13
Hanle to Leh
After breakfast, drive back to Leh and check into your hotel. If you're interested, spend time shopping for souvenirs to take home. You'll stay in Leh for the night.

Leh to New Delhi
Get transferred to Leh airport for your flight back to New Delhi. Upon arrival, you'll be transferred to your hotel for the night. The rest of the day is free for leisure and shopping around the city.
