Funchal
You'll arrive in Funchal and get picked up at the airport for the drive to your hotel. That evening, you'll meet your guide and the rest of the group at a welcome dinner to kick things off.

Funchal
After breakfast, you'll hike through terraced gardens and traditional villages between Referta and Castelejo, covering about 6.5 km over roughly 2 hours on moderately difficult terrain. Along the way, you'll see historic stone houses and centuries-old levada irrigation channels. Then you'll stop at a traditional rum distillery to learn how aguardente de cana is made and sample some. The afternoon is free, so you can head into Funchal and explore on your own.

Porto Moniz
You'll travel to Pául da Serra plateau and hike along Levada dos Cedros through the UNESCO-protected Laurisilva forest, a 7 km route that takes about 3 hours on moderate terrain. After that, you'll drive to the north coast at Porto Moniz for a prego sandwich and a swim in the famous lava pools if you want. On the way back, you'll stop in Seixal and São Vicente, finishing the day with a traditional poncha at the Serra d'Água viewpoint.

Funchal
This day is yours to do what you want. You can relax at the hotel, wander around Funchal on your own, or book an optional guided hike to Ponta de São Lourenço on the island's east side, where you'll find dramatic cliffs and Atlantic views. If you do the hike, you'll head afterward to Machico, Madeira's oldest town, to walk around the charming historic area.

Funchal
You'll hike along Levada do Rei, one of the island's most beautiful routes at 10 km with moderate difficulty and about 3.5 hours of walking time, featuring around 70 meters of elevation gain. You'll walk through thick laurel forests, pass babbling streams and fern fields, and get great valley views throughout. There's a picnic break with regional food in nature, or you can eat at a nearby restaurant if the weather isn't cooperating. You'll return to your accommodation in the afternoon and have dinner later.

Funchal
You'll start with a leisurely hike along Levada do Norte near Boa Morte, a 9 km easy route taking about 2.5 hours through lush gardens with sweeping views over Madeira's south coast. Then you'll drive to Cabo Girão, the famous viewpoint where a glass platform sits 580 meters above the sea. Back at your accommodation in the afternoon, you'll have a traditional espetada dinner, which is grilled meat cooked on a laurel skewer at a typical local restaurant.
