Itinerary
- Day 1
Pisa
You'll arrive in Pisa and get settled at your B&B, then start checking out the city's historic center. The Leaning Tower is right there in Piazza dei Miracoli, so grab some photos with it, and if you're interested, the Romanesque cathedral and Campo Santo are in the same square. For dinner, head to Pizzeria la Tana for authentic Pisan pizza, then grab gelato while watching the sun set over the Arno River. Wander through the medieval old town afterward and stop by Piazza dei Cavalieri to see what's there. It's a solid first evening for getting oriented and trying local food.

Pisa to Florence
Walk to Pisa train station in about 15 minutes and take the train to Florence, which takes around an hour. Once you're at Santa Maria Novella station, the city center is walkable from there. Check out the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella first, then head down Via Calzaiuoli where you'll pass Italian fashion shops on your way to Piazza della Signoria. After that, you can choose to see the Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Pitti and Boboli Gardens, or head to Piazza Michelangelo for views of the cathedral dome and the city. You'll catch the evening train back to Pisa. It's a full day but manageable since you're based there.

Pisa to Cinque Terre
Take the train from Pisa to La Spezia, which is about an hour, then transfer to another train heading into Cinque Terre National Park. This UNESCO site has 5 villages, each with its own feel and character. Spend time on the beaches, try the hiking trails if you're up for it, or just walk along the rocky coastline. The local food is worth trying, and there's plenty of good photo opportunities throughout the day. Catch the sunset there if you can, then head back by train to Pisa. It's a bit of travel time but worth it for the coastal scenery and villages.

- Day 4
Pisa to Lucca
Take a 25-minute train ride from Pisa to Lucca, a medieval town surrounded by an impressive historic city wall. Walk to Piazza Anfiteatro, which is unusual because it's built right on top of an ancient Roman amphitheater and you can still see the outline of the original structure in how the plaza's shaped. The palaces throughout town are nice to see, and the Cathedral of St. Martin is considered one of the better churches in the area. Try the local specialty Buccellato, which is a sweet bread they make there. Spend the afternoon back in Pisa shopping along Corso Italia before heading back to your B&B.

Departure from Pisa
Your trip wraps up today with a traditional Italian breakfast offered. If your flight isn't until afternoon, you'll have time to walk around Pisa more and see anything you missed earlier. If you're leaving in the morning, you'll need to head to the airport or train station to start your journey home. Either way, it's time to move on from this part of Tuscany.
