Tanzania Safari Introduction
You'll start by learning when Tanzania's wildlife is most active and how the seasons shape what you'll see on safari. The dry season, roughly June through October, brings the best game viewing since animals gather around water sources and vegetation thins out, making them easier to spot. During these months, temperatures range from 50°F/10°C in early mornings to 75°F/24°C by afternoon. The wet season from November through May transforms the landscape with lush greenery, and while it's harder to track animals through thick brush, this is when you'll see newborn calves and migratory birds. Understanding these patterns helps you plan which parks to visit and when. Northern circuits like the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater peak during the dry months when migration patterns are most predictable. Southern regions and western areas offer different advantages during shoulder seasons. You'll also discover how animal behavior shifts with temperature and food availability, so what you see in January differs from what appears in August. This knowledge shapes everything from accommodation choices to which guides and routes will work best for your trip.
