Itinerary
- Day 1
Cancún
Pick up your rental car at the airport and drive down to your hotel in downtown Cancún. It's a straightforward drive from the airport, and you'll check in for your first night. Get settled and maybe take an evening walk to get oriented with the area.
 - Day 2
Cancún to Valladolid
Head out early along the Caribbean coast, driving through Playa del Carmen on your way to Tulum where you'll see the Mayan ceremonial center perched on the cliffs. From there, continue inland to Cobá and explore the archaeological site, which has the tallest pyramid in the Yucatán at 42 meters. Finish the day in Valladolid after covering about 245 km.

Valladolid to Mérida
Drive west to Izamal and check out the distinctive cityscape with its Franciscan monastery completed in 1562, built on top of a Mayan pyramid using stones from older Mayan structures. Then continue to Mérida, the Yucatán's capital, for a 2-night stay. The drive covers roughly 185 km and takes a few hours.

Mérida
Spend your full day in Mérida walking around the Zócalo for an overview of the city, visiting the cathedral, and strolling down the Montejo promenade. The city earned the nickname 'white city' because of its brightly colored house facades throughout. By evening, take a walk around to feel the full character of the place and how the city comes alive after dark.

Mérida to Uxmal
Travel to Celestún National Park and take a boat trip with hopes of spotting pink flamingos if luck is on your side. After that, head to Uxmal to see the impressive Mayan complex with its Pyramid of the Magician and the Nun's Quadrangle. If you're interested, check out the planetarium in the evening. The day involves about 210 km of driving.

Uxmal to Chichén Itzá
Follow the Puuc route and visit smaller archaeological sites starting with Kabah, known for its masked palace, then Sayil and Labná. Later, drive on to Chichén Itzá, Mexico's largest and most well-known Mayan site. Here you'll see the Kukulkán pyramid, the warrior temple, and the ball court. A sound and light show runs in the evening if you want to stay and watch. This day covers approximately 280 km.
