- LHLarry· July 14th, 2025In summary, this was one of the most disappointing vacations I have ever experienced. And at many levels. To begin, the information available from you about this trip was inadequate and misleading - if not completely deceptive. And, unlike every other touring organization, it was extremely difficult to communicate with you. Absolutely impossible to call directly to obtain detailed information. So item by item. Your initial I al meeting place was extremely inconvenient to reach. Why not at the airport or downtown London. Plus you dud not disclose the location of the two hotels initially - so I booked reservations elsewhere. Secondly, this was the first time I have ever experienced having all the daily tour excursions as "optional" and requiring additional payment. This absolutely was not made clear in your advertising. The amount of time riding on the bus was horrible - perhaps 2/3 or 3/4 of our total vacation time. Consequently the amount of time actually spent to our major destinations was wholly inadequate Normally arriving in the evening and departing very early morning. The experience in Edinburgh was the worst. How dare you put us up at a distant airport hotel? What an abysmal experience. A 40 tram ride into town. One of the highlights of any vacation is being able to step out of the hotel and be in the middle of town. This gross inconvenience was NOT disclosed! I purchased a single supplement. However twice I was placed in a tiny single room. I should be reimbursed. Indeed, the organization with which I normally tour, Overseas Adventure Travel NEVER charge for a single supplement on its land tours. Finally, most of the daily excursions were a complete waist of time and money. Particularly the two silly lake cruises. I will never tour with your organization again. And I will strongly discourage any friends from doing so. One positive note. The tour leader, Peter W was excellent.Show moreTrip date: July 2025

- HCHelen· June 13th, 2025I would recommend a cup holder on the bus or a pocket on the back of the bus. The rest of the trip was amazing. Marcus was so knowledgeable and made our trip so amazing.Show moreTrip date: June 2025

- Jesmer· May 12th, 2025Marisol was an extraordinary! My wife and I had a wonderful trip with our wonderful group leader. We learned a lot from her history telling and really took time to explain. - Marybeth· May 1st, 2025A bit rushed...the 2 of us disagree on this point. I thought it was fine in the rest stops. My travel partner needed more time. On the point of time at the city stops, we both agree more time would have been nice. I know there was a lot of road to cover and places to see but we felt a bit rushed. We lived Mike and Russell!!! Super knowledgeable and friendly.Show moreTrip date: April 2025

What our customers ask about this tour
The content in our FAQ section is subject to change.- O
Oliver
Asked on June 20th, 2025Would you accept him to the tour
- Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written June 2025
That should be fine with us but it will ultimately be up to your husband if he is okay with the active nature of the tour. We believe the best way to get to the heart and soul of a city is on foot, surrounded by the people and the culture. For this reason, we do walking tours through most of the cities we visit. Many of the cities you visit are vast and old, often with steps and cobblestones. Our walking tours can last up to 3 hours with plenty of opportunities to take photographs and soak up the history of these fascinating places, but you do require a certain level of fitness to enjoy your tour to its fullest. If the above statement is fine with your husband and does not pose any risks, then he is more than welcome to join the tour.

Asked on June 6th, 2025What time is the meet time for the first day? Looking at flight, I won't be able to land at London until 930am
- Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written June 2025
On Day 1 of the tour, there are 2 Meet Up Locations with specified meet up times. Outside Novotel London Greenwich hotel 173-185 Greenwich High Road, London, SE10 8JA 06:30 AM. Hotel lobby at Holiday Inn Express London - Greenwich 85 Bugsby Way, Greenwich, London, SE10 0GD 07:00 AM. It is important to be able to join the tour at those times since the group will Travel to Cambridge at around 7:30 AM and then to York where the first night's accommodation will be. If you will be arriving at a later time on Day 1, it will still be fine, but you would have to make your way to Cambridge or York to join the group.

Asked on May 22nd, 2025I'd like to know the details about the accommodation. Specifically: how are the rooms assigned/how do we choose a roommate and what is the additional cost to book a private room for the duration of the tour?
- Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written May 2025
Our standard accommodation is twin-share, and you will be paired with a tour participant of the same gender. If you are traveling with someone and would like to share a room, just let us know, and we'll try our best to accommodate. For a private room, we offer upgrade options and will need to know your preferred currency to provide accurate pricing.

Joseph
Traveler•Written May 2025How much is it per private room per person (so one private room for each person) in GBP?
- Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written May 2025
We confirm that the additional cost of £485 per person applies for those who prefer a private room rather than shared accommodation. If everyone in your group opts for their own private room, this will be the additional cost per person.

Asked on May 1st, 2025I would like to keep my daughter in the same room with my wife and myself. What will be the price.
- Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written May 2025
As per Hotel rules and policy, three travelers are not permitted to stay in one room with twin beds. The third traveler would need to either be roomed with a fellow traveler of the same gender or purchase a single supplement. If your daughter is below 18, she will need to be roomed with either you or your wife and the other adult can either room with another traveler of the same gender or get a Single Room Upgrade.

Asked on March 20th, 2025I am trying to book flights leaving London and am wondering what time the tour ends in London so that I can book my flights
- Expat Explore TravelOperator•Written March 2025
Based on that itinerary, the tour is expected to end around 6:00 PM, though this may vary depending on traffic. If you're planning to book a flight, I'd recommend allowing some extra time to be safe.
