- Day 1
Copenhagen
You'll arrive at Copenhagen airport and pick up your rental vehicle. Depending on when you land, take time to explore the city at your own pace. Walk through the charming canal district and check out Town Hall Square, Christiansborg Castle, and Kongens Nytorv Square with the Royal Theater. The Nyhavn district is worth seeing for its colorful historic merchant houses, and you can also visit Amalienborg castle, the Gefion fountain, and the Little Mermaid statue by the waterfront.

Hillerod - Fredensborg - Helsingor
After breakfast at your hotel, consider taking a classic canal tour around Copenhagen's harbor and waterways. Then drive to Hillerod to see Frederiksborg Castle and its chapel. Head to Fredensborg to check out the royal family's summer residence and park. From there, take the scenic Strandvejen coastal road to Helsingor, where you can walk around and explore the Renaissance Kronborg Castle, which inspired Shakespeare's Hamlet.

- Day 3
Roskilde - Funen
Start with breakfast at your hotel, then drive to Roskilde, a historic city marking its 1000th anniversary. You'll visit the UNESCO World Heritage cathedral and then see the Viking Museum on the fjord, which has a 31-meter-long Viking warship. Cross the Storebalt bridge that connects Sjaelland to Funen, and continue on to your overnight destination.

Odense - Ribe
Have breakfast at your hotel before heading to Egeskov Castle, a Renaissance-style fortress built on thousands of oak stilts in the middle of a lake. Spend time exploring the park with its different gardens and bamboo labyrinth. After that, drive to Odense, the city of Danish storyteller HC Andersen, and then continue to Ribe, Denmark's oldest town.

Jelling - Viborg - Aalborg
Following breakfast, travel to Jelling to see the important Viking era runestones site near Jelling Church. Move on to Viborg to see the largest granite church in northern Europe. Drive to Aalborg and check out the Lindholm Hoje necropolis with 700 sculptures, one of Denmark's most important Viking archaeological sites from that era.

North Jutland - Skagen
Head out for North Jutland and Jammer Bay. You'll pass Rubjerg Knude lighthouse, which sits on an impressive 90-meter cliff with great views of the landscape. Continue to the town of Skagen, which drew 19th-century Danish painters. Visit Grenen, Denmark's northernmost point where the North Sea and Baltic Sea meet.

Hobro - Aarhus
After breakfast, drive to Hobro to visit Fyrkat, one of Denmark's four most important Viking fortresses. Continue to Aarhus, the country's second-largest city, known for its young and dynamic culture with art and cultural centers. Walk through the cathedral in the city center, the longest cathedral in Denmark with the largest organ and most frescoes. See the Latin Quarter with antique shops, art galleries, and designer boutiques. You can also optionally check out Den Gamle By (Old Town) and its reconstructed historic houses.
