Itinerary
- Day 1
Donauworth
You'll arrive in Donauworth at your own pace and get settled into your accommodation for the night. This is where your cycling journey along the Danube and Lech rivers begins, so take time to rest and prepare for the days ahead.
- Day 2
Donauworth to Niederscönenfeld
Start cycling from Donauworth on the Danube cycle path heading toward Marxheim, where you'll connect to the Lech cycle path. The route takes you to the Danube-Lech point where the two differently colored rivers meet, and you'll cross the Danube bridge with views of both river systems and the parish church. From there, continue along the dam path to reach Feldheimer Stausee bird sanctuary. This day covers a moderate distance with plenty of scenic water views.

Niederscönenfeld to Augsburg
After leaving the Hochablass bridge, you'll cycle through parkland and allotments into Augsburg. The route feels much more countryside than city despite heading toward an urban center. Once in Augsburg, check out the ice canal built for the 1972 Olympic Games on the Lech's opposite bank. It's part of the UNESCO World Heritage Water Management System, so there's interesting history to see along with the water infrastructure.

- Day 4
Augsburg to Pitzling
You'll cycle from the Lech bridge toward the historic old town of Landsberg am Lech, then head south through Pössinger Au wildlife park to Pitzling, a former rafting village. Leave the river at the church and continue through wooded areas with several route options to choose from as you cycle upstream.

Pitzling to Rosshaupten
Head out to Lechbruck, which was the former center of Lech rafting and sits where the river leaves the Alps. You'll ride along high banks of Premer Lech lake and reach the power station in Rosshaupten, which has an information room about hydropower. Cross the dam to see views of what the Illasberg gorge may have looked like before it was built.

Rosshaupten to Weissenbach am Lech
Today brings spectacular Alpine views as you cycle to Weissenbach am Lech, the last village in the Reutte Nature Park region before entering the Lech Valley. Mountains surround you with the Lech right beside the path the whole way. You'll pass Am Lechweg bathing lake and cycle under Johannesbrucke bridge into Alpine pasture areas.
