Pamela· February 3rd, 2025Overall, it was a good adventure. The City Tour was interesting with an excellent guide, Tracy. That was a bonus for the trip. I learned a lot about Yellowknife and the NWT. The Explorer Hotel was very good and a convenient location for pickups & some walking to downtown. The airport shuttles were most appreciated. The delivery of my rental clothing was perfect- in the closet when I arrived a night early. A couple of suggestions - It would help to have the packing list earlier. I could have done some comparison shopping and planned my packing better. The Aurora Village was a good experience, but additional aurora experiences would be a plus. As it was, I skipped one of the Aurora Village nights and went on a cabin viewing experience ( Bucket List Tours) that was a lot of fun and one of the highlights of the trip. I felt like part of a "herd" getting ready to go to the Aurora Village. Once there the "herd" spread out and the smaller groups were appreciated. It was a bit frustrating and delayed to get communication to and from Landsby having to go through Tour Radar. Finally in the end Landsby came through more promptly.Show more

Asked on August 24th, 2025Do you have a tour for a small group of seniors? My parents want to see the Northern Lights and are both in their early 80s? They do not have much mobility issues and can walk pretty much most of the places. Occasionally, they will use a cane or poles to navigate uneven terrains.
LandsbyOperator•Written August 2025We have multiple tours available in both Yellowknife and the Yukon. The Yukon might be easiest to get to although there are non-stop flight to both Yellowknife and the Yukon from Vancouver.

Asked on February 24th, 2025Is their a tour in April end?
LandsbyOperator•Written February 2025The guided aurora viewing evenings operate only until April 6, so this tour cannot be available at the end of April.

Asked on January 1st, 2025I was wondering if one would be able to add an extra night at the hotel and if so, what would the cost be? I was planning on arriving late in March 16th (close to midnight), and leaving on March 20th.
LandsbyOperator•Written January 2025We are able to provide you with a pre-night on 16 March - the room is between $260 CAD and $392 CAD depending on which hotel we choose.

Asked on November 3rd, 2024What would be the latest flight arrival time at Yellowknife to be assured of making the shuttle for the first night viewing of the northern lights? Not clear about the cancellation policy- 100% refund if cancel 30 days from booking? Refund or credit? Is there a different price for a single room? Where is the 1 night heated seat? I thought we were in a heated teepee every night?
LandsbyOperator•Written November 2024We suggest you arrive into Yellowknife by 5pm at the latest. These are the terms for cancellation: 61 days or more to the departure date, we provide a full refund minus a $75 transaction fee. 60 days to 31 days prior to departure date 50% of the total price. 30 days to, including on and after departure date 100% of the total price. The seat is different to the teepee - the teepee is heated but when you are outside, we offer an upgrade for one to the seat being heated.

Traveler•Written November 2024How many daily flights to Yellowknife would you schedule in this tour? Is there something else offered on the tour to make up the difference in price? Do you only have one viewing location for the northern lights? Is it possible to arrange dog sledding &/or snowshoeing?
LandsbyOperator•Written November 2024The flight on the 28th is at 8am arriving into Yellowknife at 9:55am. The return on the 31st has 2 flights: 4:25pm and 6:15pm. There is one viewing site that is used and we can arrange for dog sledding or snowshoe based on availability.

Asked on October 29th, 2024At what time do you recommend they book their departure flights?
LandsbyOperator•Written October 2024Book their departure flights from where? If thinking of flying to and from Yellowknife, please try and arrive before 5pm on the 8th and depart as of noon on the 11th. Aurora viewing runs late so you don't want to have to wake up extra early for a return flight.

Anne
Asked on February 8th, 2024Which airports are included with transfers?
LandsbyOperator•Written February 2024You would want to fly into Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories. There is an airport shuttle that brings you to and from the hotel. If you do require assistance with airfare into Yellowknife, please let us know.

Asked on January 25th, 2024Does that still hold true if my flight gets in a bit after midnight? Also, is there an option to sign up for a dog sled tour on one of the free days? Lastly, by staying only 3 nights, are there good odds that I will get to see the northern lights?
LandsbyOperator•Written January 2024The free shuttle runs until about 1 am. Afterwards, there are taxis available that are reliable. There is dog sledding available and we will have to look at availability once we have your dates settled. Finally, there is not a better place in Norther America for Northern Lights than Yellowknife. The odds are good that you will see them, although they are of course a natural phenomenon.
