Arrival in Panama City
You'll arrive at the international airport and a driver will take you to your hotel in the city center. Depending on when you get in, you might grab dinner or a drink at your hotel or somewhere nearby to settle in for the night.

Panama City Sightseeing Tour
Start exploring Panama City, which was founded back in 1519. Walk through the 16th-century ruins of Panama Viejo first, then head into the historic Casco Viejo district where you'll see restored colonial buildings. From there, head to the Causeway for views of the skyline, and finish up at the Miraflores locks to watch how the Panama Canal actually works.

Soberanía National Park and Lake Gatún
This day focuses on nature and wildlife in the area. You'll drive to Soberania National Park for a one to two hour jungle hike where tropical birds, monkeys, and plants are all around you. Later, travel to Gamboa port for a 2.5 hour boat trip on Lake Gatun where you'll spot monkeys, crocodiles, turtles, and sloths while watching ships use the canal. Before heading back to the city, you'll stop at Monkey Island.

Panama City to El Valle de Antón
Your driver takes you to pick up a rental car. You'll drive west across the Puente de las Americas to El Valle de Antón, a quiet town sitting inside the world's largest populated volcanic crater. Spend time walking through the tropical cloud forest at your own pace. If you want, there's an optional stop at Altos de Campana National Park on the way for hiking and views.

Landmarks Puente de las Américas El Valle de Antón Altos de Campana National Park - Day 5
El Valle de Antón to Pedasi
Drive from El Valle back to the Pan-American Highway heading west toward the Azuero Peninsula. Stop to see the historic church in Nata de los Caballeros, one of Panama's oldest towns with a church from 1520. Continue south through small villages to reach Pedasi, where your hotel is located in Puerto Escondido just outside town. There's an optional visit to Isla Iguana if you're interested.

You have the full day to yourself to relax or explore however you'd like. The area has natural attractions and outdoor activities available if you want to do something, or you can just take it easy.

Pedasi to Las Lajas
Get back on the Pan-American Highway and drive inland through Santiago on roads that don't have much traffic. Turn toward San Felix and continue to the small village of Las Lajas. Your accommodation is run by a German owner and sits near Playa Las Lajas, one of the nicest beaches on Panama's Pacific side.

Las Lajas (Leisure Day)
Relax at Playa Las Lajas, one of the most beautiful beaches on Panama's Pacific coast. The beach stretches about 20 kilometers with palm and sand in the Chiriqui region, and you'll get to see beautiful sunsets.

Las Lajas to Boquete
Leave the beach and drive up to Boquete, a highland town at 1,500 meters elevation known for flowers and coffee. You'll escape the lowland heat and get to experience the cooler mountain climate instead.

Boquete (Leisure Day)
Today is free for you to wander around the charming town of Boquete and its wooded areas. There are plenty of hiking trails and outdoor activities available if that interests you.

Landmarks Boquete - Day 11
Boquete to Bocas del Toro
After breakfast, you'll drive over the Cordillera de Talamanca mountains and along the Caribbean coast with changing scenery to Almirante, where you'll drop off your rental car at the port. Board a boat to Colón (Bocas del Toro), then take a taxi to your beachfront hotel at Playa Bluff. You'll find this island group has a relaxed Caribbean feel with bars, restaurants, and Afro-Panamanian culture throughout.
