Itinerary
- Day 1
San José
You'll land at San José airport where a driver meets you with a nameplate and takes you to the group hotel. Later that evening, meet your tour guide for an orientation covering local customs and practical information about what to expect. Dinner in town is optional if you want to explore on your own.

Cartago
After tropical breakfast, head to Irazú volcano's slopes at 3,000m/9,843ft where potatoes grow in the volcanic soil. Reach the 3,432m/11,260ft summit for views of both the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean on clear days, then walk through the lunar landscape to see the turquoise sulfur lagoon. Descend by e-bike over asphalt and gravel through small villages toward Turrialba volcano. The bike tour wraps up at La Pastora, then a bus takes you to Cartago where you'll have dinner together at a local restaurant.

Orosí Valley
Start with a typical Costa Rican breakfast, then bike through the scenic Orosí Valley. The route begins at the ancient temple of Ujárrás, one of Costa Rica's earliest temples, and features slightly rolling terrain with asphalt and gravel sections and light traffic. You'll see Tapantí National Park and Río Grande de Orosí while passing through coffee plantations and spotting birds. After crossing a suspension bridge, a bus transports you back to your hotel in Cartago. Lunch is on your own.

Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí
After breakfast, travel by bus to the Doka State coffee plantation to learn about cultivation, harvesting, production, and coffee history. The route winds through the Central Cordillera via cloud and rainforests before reaching Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí. The rest of the day is free to relax and do what you like. Dinner is together at a typical local restaurant in the evening.

Sarapiquí Rainforest Region
The jungle bike tour through the Sarapiquí region is optional and depends on group size and weather conditions. You'll start on paved roads then transition to unpaved gravel paths through rural areas past pineapple and palm plantations, where monkeys, iguanas, insects, butterflies, and birds might appear. In the evening, take a special night hike through the tropical rainforest where frogs, snakes, bats, and other jungle creatures are particularly active. Heavy rain cancels the night hike for safety.

- Day 6
Lake Arenal
Ride e-bikes along Lake Arenal, Costa Rica's largest lake, with Arenal volcano reflected in the water creating great photo opportunities. You'll pass several rivers while enjoying the scenic landscape. The afternoon is free, so ask your guide about the best things to do in the area. Dinner is together at a typical local restaurant.

Arenal National Park
Hike in Arenal National Park this morning where vegetation has regrown since the historic 1968 eruption. Trek the Silencio Trail to cooled lava boulders and watch for howler monkeys, hummingbirds, and other bird species. After returning to your accommodation, the afternoon is free for optional activities that interest you.

Rincón de la Vieja Volcano
After breakfast, take a bus to Nuevo Arenal, which replaced the old town now underwater beneath the dam. Then saddle up e-bikes for approximately 22km of riding through small villages and beautiful terrain. Head to Tierras Morenas on an unpaved road with wind turbine sounds and coastal views surrounding you. On clear days you'll see Tenorio and Miravalles volcanoes. Ride through Guanacaste's grasslands watching cowboys herd cattle, then exit to the Panamericana highway. A bus transports you to Rincón de la Vieja, the trip's third volcano, then to your hotel for dinner.

Thermal Springs at Rincón de la Vieja
Take a break from cycling and visit the thermal springs of Río Negro, nestled in tropical dry forest. The naturally heated mineral-rich waters flow through 10 natural swimming pools accessible by suspension bridges. Coat yourself with hot volcanic mud for a spa-like treatment, let it dry in the sun, then wash off in cold river water before relaxing in the thermal springs again. After this rejuvenating break, the bus drives you to the beach. Lunch together is at a typical local restaurant.

Rincón de la Vieja Volcano Circumnavigation
After breakfast, get on e-bikes to circle Rincón de la Vieja volcano. You'll navigate red mud, river stones, and volcanic rocks under extreme climate conditions with heat, humidity, fog, and possibly rain, all while taking in beautiful views. Once you've completed the volcano loop, enjoy a late lunch on your own and relax for the rest of the afternoon. Dinner is served in the evening.

Pacific Coast
After breakfast, saddle up the e-bikes one final time for an exciting tour with details to follow. Your bus then transports you to your hotel on the Pacific coast where you'll stay for several days.

Sámara Beach
Take your e-bikes out for the last time on a longer tour along the Pacific beaches. Start from your hotel and ride to Barco Quebraro, then Barrigona, and finally to Carillo beach. After a short break, head back to Sámara. The rest of the day is free to relax on the beach or pursue optional activities.

Sámara
Spend the day at Sámara's beautiful beach on the Nicoya Peninsula. You're based in a small, cozy hotel near the water without the hassle of large tourist resorts. The fishing town has several beach restaurants, bars, and shops plus a wonderful sandy beach. Consider optional excursions like dolphin watching trips, kayak tours to Isla Chora, or heading to nearby Nosara for excellent surfing.

San José
The morning is free to do what you like. Around 1 p.m., board a transfer bus back to San José, arriving in the evening. If you prefer, you can extend your stay a few more days on the Pacific coast to explore other regional highlights.
