From there, you'll drive toward the northwest corner of Slovenia, heading into the Alpine region where the landscape shifts dramatically with high mountains. Mt. After lunch or later in the afternoon, head to Lake Bohinj, Slovenia's largest natural lake. Vršič Pass - Soča Valley - Bovec
Head north to Kranjska Gora, an alpine town positioned near the Austrian and Italian borders. The main event today is crossing Mountain Pass Vrsic at 1,611 meters, the highest road pass in the Eastern Julian Alps. The drive includes 50 serpentine curves, so it's definitely an experience and takes time to navigate safely. Once you descend on the other side, you'll enter the Soca valley where the river runs an emerald green color. You'll end the day in Bovec, a small town in this valley region.

For people seeking something more intense, zipline parks and skydiving are available in the area. Along the way, visit Lipica stud farm to see the Lipizzaner horses, a breed that's born black and gradually turns white as the horses mature.
