Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Tromsø
You'll arrive in Tromsø and get settled into your accommodation. The midnight sun creates that golden light over the city throughout the evening, so there's plenty of time to explore. Walk around at your own pace and take in the fjords and cityscape. If you're up for it, the cable car up Storsteinen takes about 4 minutes and gets you over 400 meters up for views across the city and the surrounding water.

- Day 2
Tromsø to Narvik
This morning you'll drive south toward Narvik, passing through snow-covered mountains and along fjords. Stop at various points along the coast where you might spot humpback whales or orcas. By afternoon you'll reach Narvik, a harbor town just north of the Arctic Circle. The local cable car goes up the mountain if you want those panoramic views, and then you can explore the restaurants around town for fresh fish dishes that are local specialties.

Lofoten Islands
You'll arrive at your accommodation in the Lofoten Islands and get settled in. The landscape here is pretty distinctive with those red fishermen's huts on stilts, deep blue water, and rugged mountains surrounding everything. After you've dropped your things off, there's time to wander around at your own pace and get a feel for the area. If you're hungry, head to one of the fish restaurants and try bacalao, which is a local specialty you'll find throughout the islands.

- Day 4
Lofoten Islands Exploration
Spend the day exploring the Lofoten Islands by driving the E10 highway and getting out to walk through the landscape. You'll head to Henningsværr, a fishing village spread across eight islands and connected by bridges. Walk through and look at the small stilt houses, stop at a local café for coffee. Later, drive to the Trollfjord, a 2.5-kilometer fjord that's known for how dramatic the scenery is with the steep cliffs surrounding it.

- Day 5
Lofoten Beaches
Today focuses on the beaches. You can drive to Haukland Beach and Uttakleiv Beach easily by car and walk around both. If you want something quieter, Kvalvika Beach is reachable with a short hike and has turquoise water. After that, you have the rest of the day to drive around and explore whatever catches your interest. The midnight sun keeps things bright until late evening from mid-May through mid-July, so you'll have time.

- Day 6
Southern Lofoten
You'll drive the E10 toward the southwestern end of Lofoten to check out charming villages with wooden cottages and fishermen's huts. Consider staying in Reine, Å, or Sørvågen, each has spectacular views of the Reinefjord. There's an optional ferry trip across the fjord if you want to access some hiking trails in untouched nature, so that's available depending on your interests.

- Day 7
Å - Reine
This morning you'll head out to Å, the fishing village with one of the world's shortest place names and the southernmost point reachable by car in the Lofoten Islands. Stop at the museum oven there, which has been around for over 100 years, and grab some freshly baked cinnamon buns. From there, continue on to Reine. If you're feeling up for it, the hike up Reinebringen involves around 1700 steps and takes you to views over Reine and the surrounding area. It's optional, but worth considering if you have the energy and time.

- Day 8
Lofoten to Harstad
Leaving Lofoten behind, head east toward Harstad. You'll have some optional time to visit Nusfjord fishing village or go back and do any excursions you missed earlier. As you approach Harstad, you'll see the Møysalen mountain in its national park, which is 1200 meters. After you check in, go hike Gangsåtoppen, a local mountain with panoramic views from the top. Later, find a restaurant for dinner and explore the town a bit.

- Day 9
Harstad to Tromsø
Drive back to Tromsø and watch the Nordic scenery along the way. Once there, walk through the colorful wooden houses and cobblestone streets, check out the cozy bars. The cable car up Storsteinen takes 4 minutes to reach the summit at over 400 meters and offers views of the Tromsø Bridge and the cityscape. Have a typical Norwegian meal in the evening before winding down.

Departure from Tromsø
Return the rental car at the airport and depart Tromsø. You'll head home with memories of the natural landscapes and all the experiences from your Norwegian adventure.
