- Day 1
Arrival in San José
You'll fly into San José and get settled at your accommodation for the night. It's the start of your Costa Rica trip, so take it easy and prepare yourself for the tropical adventure ahead.

San José to Montezuma or Santa Teresa
A bus takes you through Costa Rica's lush green landscape, and then you'll board a ferry crossing the Gulf of Nicoya. By afternoon you're in Montezuma or Santa Teresa, checking into your beachfront place and soaking in those relaxed Caribbean vibes.

Montezuma
If you arrive on a Saturday, start with a walk through the farmers' market to see local handicrafts and fresh food. Later you'll hike the Montezuma Waterfalls Trail through thick jungle, watch capuchin monkeys play around, and cool off with a swim in the waterfall pool.

Landmarks Montezuma Waterfalls - Day 4
Montezuma to Tortuga Island
You'll take a boat to Tortuga Island for the day. There's snorkeling and swimming in clear water, plus time to just relax on the beach. By evening you head back and catch the sunset over the Pacific from Santa Teresa.

Santa Teresa to Monteverde
A bus ride inland brings you to Monteverde cloud forest. You'll walk through the misty jungle using suspension bridges high above the ground, see waterfalls, and look for sloths, monkeys, and if you're lucky, jaguars.

Monteverde
Start with a meal at one of Monteverde's local cafés, then head into the cloud forest looking for colorful toucans and quetzals. You can explore the jungle by horseback or take a suspension bridge walk through the treetops for a different perspective.

Monteverde to La Fortuna
Travel to La Fortuna, and as you go, you'll see the landscape shift. The Arenal volcano comes into view and becomes impossible to miss. In town, you'll check out shops and market stalls before relaxing on your terrace and taking in the local atmosphere.

- Day 8
La Fortuna
You'll spend the day hiking trails in Arenal National Park with the volcano as your backdrop. The landscape is formed from old lava flows with unique plants, and optional hot springs let you soak tired muscles after you finish.

A bus takes you across Costa Rica to the Caribbean coast and Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, known as Little Jamaica. You'll find reggae music, colorful surfboards everywhere, and that laid-back Caribbean feel. By evening you're having a drink at a beachfront bar.

- Day 10
Puerto Viejo de Talamanca to Bocas del Toro
You'll take a shuttle to Almirante, then hop on a boat to Bocas del Toro on Colón Island, Panama. The colorful streets are fun to walk through, and you'll check out restaurants and cafés. Later, head to Istmito Beach and watch the sun go down over the water.

- Day 11
Bocas del Toro
You're snorkeling in Panama's warm tropical waters, spotting colorful fish and corals with a chance of seeing sea turtles. Then you'll visit Starfish Beach to see starfish in shallow water, spend time on the sand, and enjoy your evening back in Bocas del Toro.

Get up before sunrise on Colón's eastern beaches and watch the dawn break. After a good breakfast at a local restaurant, you'll spend the day exploring quieter beaches like Playa Punta Carenero, Bluff Beach, or Big Creek. Surfing is available if you want something more active.

You'll leave Bocas del Toro and the Caribbean coast behind, traveling by minibus back through Costa Rica's tropical landscape toward San José. It's time to reflect on everything you've done and seen before your final night.

Departure from San José
You take one last look at Costa Rica as your flight departs for home. There's plenty to think about from the past weeks and all the experiences you've collected.
