Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrive Kathmandu
You'll fly into Kathmandu and have the chance to take in views of snow-capped peaks from the air. When you land, the support team will be waiting at the airport to greet you and drive you to your hotel. After you settle in, welcome drinks are served to kick off the trip.
- Day 2
Kathmandu to Bamti Bhandar
The journey starts with 7 to 8 hours of travel by bus or jeep from Kathmandu toward Bamti Bhandar, a Sherpa settlement sitting at 2,990m. You'll stop for lunch around midday at either Nepalthok or Khurkot, and then continue on to the lodge where you'll spend the night.

Bamti Bhandar to Namkheli
After breakfast at Bamti Bhandar, you trek for roughly 2 to 3 hours before stopping for lunch at Thadakhola. From there, the trail crosses Likhukhola (the boundary between Solukhumbu and Ramechhap districts) and passes through Chaulakharka and Lelepu on the way to Namkheli. Views of Numbur Himal appear along the route. The trek takes about 7 to 8 hours total, ending with an overnight at a lodge.

Namkheli to Golla
You'll trek roughly 3 to 4 hours to reach Golla, a Sherpa settlement at 2,900m home to the Gwale caste. The day involves visiting three gompas: Orgen Sanang Chholing Gompa, Pema Dechhen Choling Gompa, and Guru Padhma Sambhav Gompa. Lunch comes during your exploration of the area before settling in at a lodge.

Golla to Pikey Base Camp
Starting early with breakfast, you trek about 3 hours through jungle to Naaur dada, which has several hotel options. Depending on when you visit, you might spot rhododendron flowers, wild birds, and animals along the way through Koshinasha, Golla, and Gupchuka. Lunch happens at Naaur dada, then you trek another 2 to 3 hours uphill to Pikey Base Camp at 3,600m, with nice views of snow-capped mountains showing up as you climb.

Pikey Base Camp to Pikey Peak to Junbesi
Wake early to climb Pikey Peak (4,070m) in about an hour and catch the sunrise. From the top you can see Dhaulagiri, Everest, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Numbur, Gaurisankkar, and Langtang. After taking in the views, you hike down to Jarsabhanjyang for breakfast, then trek to Taktor (2 to 3 hours) for lunch. From there, trek another 2 to 3 hours to reach Junbesi at 2,990m, a Sherpa village with an old Buddhist monastery and good hotels.

Junbesi to Thupten Chholing and return to Junbesi
After breakfast, trek 4 to 5 hours to Thupten Chholing Monastery at 2,800m. This remote monastery was founded in the 1960s by His Holiness Thrulsik Rinpoche after he fled Tibet. You can explore the site, meditate with nuns, and have lunch at the monastery. The afternoon is free to wander around at your own pace before returning to Junbesi for the night.

Junbesi to Chiwang to Phaplu
Following breakfast, trek 3 hours to Chiwong Monastery perched at 9,000 feet on the cliff of Chiwong hill. This historic monastery hosted notable Buddhist teachers like His Holiness Thrulshig Rinpoche from 1960 to 1967. Continue hiking to Phaplu (2,400m elevation), where you'll find an airport, hospital, and local amenities. Lunch is in Phaplu and you can explore Salleri Bazar, the district headquarters for Solukhumbu.

Phaplu to Kathmandu
From Phaplu after breakfast, you head back to Kathmandu either by 8 hours of car or jeep travel, or by taking a 40 minute flight if you prefer.

Depart Kathmandu
