Arrival
You arrive and get transferred to your city hotel without a guide, so you can settle in at your own pace and get oriented to the area.
- Day 2
Panama Canal Crossing
You have the option to take a complete or partial crossing of the Panama Canal, watching the gigantic locks and how huge cargo ships maneuver through the waterway.

Landmarks/POIs Panama Canal - Day 3
Panama City Panoramic Tour
A panoramic tour shows you both sides of Panama City, from modern skyscrapers to the Spanish and French architecture of Casco Antiguo. After that, you'll head to the canal and check out the Miraflores locks.

Emberá Village and Ruins
You drive to Rio Chagres and then travel by small dugout boats to an Emberá village where you'll see thousands of years of indigenous culture and traditions firsthand. Back in Panama City later, you visit 16th-century ruins.

Panama City to San José
The morning is free to spend however you'd like in Panama City. Then you transfer to the airport for your flight to San José, and after landing, head to your city hotel for the rest of the day.

Mangrove Forest and Quepos
A boat trip takes you through the extensive mangrove forest of Guacalillo, then continues past Jacó to Quepos. In the afternoon, you have free time to walk around and look for plants, birds, butterflies, and monkeys.

- Day 7
Manuel Antonio National Park
At Manuel Antonio National Park, you'll hike the trails to watch birds and other wildlife, then have free time to relax on the beautiful beaches within the park.

Finca La Bella and Monteverde Cloud Forest
After breakfast, you head north past Jacó and turn off the Panamericana highway at Sardinal toward San Luis. At Finca La Bella, you learn about sustainable farming and see coffee, fruit trees, bananas, and vegetables growing. Later you continue to Monteverde's cloud forest area at 1,400 meters elevation, where you can join an optional night tour with a local guide.

- Day 9
Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve
An early morning walk takes you through a nature reserve with misty, evergreen mountain forest. Later, you hike across suspension bridges high in the cloud forest canopy to experience the jungle from a completely different vantage point.

Rincón de la Vieja Volcano
You drive to Guanacaste province and continue through Liberia toward the active Rincón de la Vieja volcano. The 5 km 'Las Pailas' trail offers excellent volcano views without needing to reach the crater. Keep your eyes open for raccoons, coatis, armadillos, monkey species, and blue-crested motmots, plus you'll see bubbling mud pools, waterfalls, hot springs, and a small volcano called 'Volcancito'.

Hacienda Guachipelín
A short guided hike brings you to one of the waterfalls at Hacienda Guachipelín, and then your group visits the hotel's thermal springs together. You'll also have chances to take other optional tours if you're interested.

Return to San José
You head back to San José or can arrange an optional transfer to your extension hotel on the Pacific coast, with the possibility of adding a day-long swimming extension if you'd like.
