- Sandra· April 1st, 2024I loved it :) very well planned and executed. I could just follow the lead of the driver and guides. Most guides were very well prepared and adjusted well to changes. The driver was very kind and considerate. There were some minor problems with the hot water at my last hotel but the staff fixed it quite quickly.Show more
- Sandra· September 20th, 2024The trip was very well organized by Silk Road Tour. The local tour guide and program were well coordinated and offered great insights with opportunities for independent exploration. A delicious and varied lunch was the daily highlight. The group was nice and small with four people. The tour guide and driver were responsive to special requests and I felt safe and comfortable.Show more
- Kathrin· July 21st, 2024I booked two consecutive tours with Silk Road Tours and Programme and organisation were perfect and in line with the description. Guides were very friendly and flexibe to accomodate individual wishes (special food, visits outside the programme etc); the large majority also had a very good background on local culture and history. Transportation was always ok, food was always good and accomodations as well. A very big thanks to Ben Yan from Silkroad for his perfect support answering my many individual questions and requests.Show more

Asked on June 10th, 2024We are interested in a private tour through the 4 Stans (excluding Turkmenistan) for about 10-11 days around Sept Oct. We are very interested in the nature and old glory of the Silk Road, the architecture and traditions of these countries. Is it possible to work together to build an itinerary?
- Silk Road TripsOperator•Written June 2024
Visa-free entry into Uzbekistan for up to 30 days (through land borders and on Uzbekistan Airways flights) is established for US citizens who have reached the age of 55 years. But based on personal experience and the experience of my colleagues, it is better to get a visa. US citizens do not need a visa to Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan; there is a visa-free regime of 30 days.

Traveler•Written June 20241. On the first day, we arrive in Bishkek and leave for the Chon Kemin Valley. No overnight in Bishkek? 2. Will there be a single guide or country-bound multiple guides? 3. We are targeting end of Sept - beginning of Oct for our trip. Is this a good time interval? 4. What would be the cost of the trip

Traveler•Written June 2024Four-star hotels are good. I know the hotel ratings are international, but just to make sure I have the right notion, for example, Ichan Q'al or Radisson Blue in Tashkent are what I understand to be four-star hotels. Am I in the right ballpark?

Traveler•Written June 2024We were surprised by the cost. I looked at other private tours for 11 days - granted not exactly the same but in the region and hitting the major landmarks - and they were less than $3000/person for lux accommodations. I understand a bit more because we customized it. In full disclosure I feel that we need to get different quotes for this itinerary. I also looked at the hotels and for double occupancy, we'll have a max of $150/day + the meals in Uzbekistan are not included, and the train is second class.
