Itinerary
- Day 1
Dakar
You'll arrive in Dakar and get transferred to your hotel in the Lac Rose area, which sits near the famous pink lake. This gives you a chance to settle in and get oriented to Senegal's capital.

Goree Island
Take a ferry out to Goree Island and spend time at the House of Slaves museum before heading back to Dakar. From there, you'll do a guided tour hitting the Cathedral, Presidential Palace, Monument of African Renaissance, National Museum, and walk through local markets. By evening you'll return to Lac Rose.

Diorong Bou Mag - Saint Louis
Head out by boat into the Sine Saloum Delta to visit Diorong Bou Mag village. You'll meet kids at the school, tag along with women to the market, and help prepare a traditional meal together. After that, the boat continues to an abandoned island and Bird Island for birdwatching before you transfer to Saint Louis for the night.

Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary - Lompoul Desert
Explore Saint-Louis in the morning, checking out the colonial architecture, then travel to Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary for a wetlands boat trip to see migratory birds. Later, you'll head to Loumpoul village and take a 4x4 across the dunes to reach your desert camp for overnight.

Touba - Mbour
Spend some free time in the desert before traveling to Touba, the holy city of the Mouride brotherhood. Visit the Great Mosque, which holds 7,000 people and contains Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba's tomb. From there, transfer to Mbour for the night.

Saloum Delta - Ndangane
Check out Mbour (about 80 kilometers south of Dakar) and learn about the local fishing industry by visiting the fish market. Continue to Toubakouta village near the Saloum Delta, where you can explore the ecosystem and its over 200 bird species. Transfer to Ndangane for overnight.

The Gambia - Wassu Stone Circles - Janjanbureh
Cross into The Gambia and head to the Wassu Stone Circles, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with one of the world's largest collections of megalithic circles. The journey includes two scenic boat crossings and a ride on local public transport. You'll stay overnight at a camp in Janjanbureh.

Sokone
Take a boat trip around Baboon Island wildlife sanctuary to spot birds, hippos, and possibly manatees. The island houses over 100 chimpanzees as part of the Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Project, and you'll observe them from the boat (no landing allowed). Return to Sokone for overnight.

Mar Lodj - Fadiouth Island - Ndangane Island
Explore the Sine Saloum Delta's biodiversity and Serer culture by visiting Mar Lodj island to learn about the historic 'Tam-Tam telephone' drumbeat communication system and rest under the second-largest baobab tree in West Africa. Then visit Fadiouth Island's mixed-faith cemetery, which shows Christian-Muslim coexistence, and head to Ndangane Island for birdwatching. Stay overnight on Ndangane Island.
