Itinerary
- Day 1
Sofia
You'll land at Sofia International Airport and get picked up for a transfer to your hotel. After settling in, the rest of the day is yours to walk around Sofia and get a feel for the city. If you're interested, there's a Bulgarian folklore experience available in the evening that includes dinner and traditional Nestinari dances, which is worth considering if you want to see local culture right away.

Landmarks/POIs St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral - Day 2
Sofia
Following breakfast at your hotel, head into Sofia's city centre to explore on your own. You can check out St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral with its gold dome, St. George Rotonda, the Russian church St. Nikolay, and the National Theatre Ivan Vazov. Grab coffee on Vitoshka, the main pedestrian street, and take your time wandering. If you'd rather have structure, optional guided tours are available for Rila Monastery, Boyana Church, Plovdiv, or a private Sofia tour with a guide.

- Rila Monastery and Boyana Church excursion - visit UNESCO-listed Rila Monastery with arcaded balconies, unique frescoes, gilded iconostasis, approximately one hour of free time to explore the main church, narthex gallery, History Museum, try Bulgarian mekitsi (doughnuts) with buffalo yoghurt, then visit Boyana Church with Renaissance frescoes
- Plovdiv tour (shared basis, available only Mondays and Fridays) - explore Bulgaria's cultural capital and second biggest city, walk cobbled-stone streets of Old Town, see Roman Theater, Nebet Tepe fortifications, Ancient Stadium, street art, galleries, churches, mosques
- Private guide in Sofia (4 hours) - private tour guide available in English, French, German or Spanish
