Itinerary
- Day 1
London to Paris
Your journey starts in London, then you'll head toward the English Channel to see the White Cliffs of Dover. After that, you'll take the ferry across to Calais and spend time walking through World War I battlefields in the Valley of the Somme. By evening you'll arrive in Paris for a night-time city tour to get oriented and kick things off.

Paris
Start the day checking out Notre-Dame Cathedral, then head to the Louvre to see what's there. Shopping on the Champs-Élysées takes up part of the afternoon, and you'll grab pastries and coffee somewhere along the way. In the evening there's a cabaret show and dinner included, so you'll wrap up with some entertainment and a meal.

Paris to Bordeaux
Leave Paris and travel to Bordeaux, a city with a long history of wine production going back to the 1st century. You'll check out the Miroir d'eau, which is this great water mirror reflection spot. There's an option to take a scenic stroll and explore local wines if you're interested in that.

Bordeaux to San Sebastian
From Bordeaux you'll travel toward the Spanish border to reach San Sebastian, a charming coastal town right on the water. Spend time people-watching and getting a feel for the place. There's an optional Pintxos food tour where you can sample local flavours and small bites throughout the town.

San Sebastian
Today you'll explore the historic Parte Vieja section, then head to Playa de la Concha beach to spend time by the water. You'll also wander through the romantic Centro Romántico, following cobblestone streets and soaking up the coastline views. Dinner is included in the evening.

San Sebastian to Barcelona
Leave San Sebastian and travel to Barcelona. You'll start with the iconic Sagrada Familia, then explore the city's unique Gothic architecture and vibrant street life. The beaches are worth a walk too. Later there's an optional evening of Flamenco if you want to catch some live dancing and music.

Barcelona
Spend the day in Barcelona visiting Parc Güell, then relax at the beach for a bit. You'll explore backstreets to find tapas and paella for lunch or dinner. There's an option to join a cooking class where you'll prepare and taste a meal you've made yourself, which is a nice hands-on way to learn local cooking.

Barcelona to French Riviera
Leave Barcelona and travel to the French Riviera, known for its sapphire waters and glamorous coastline. The drive itself is scenic, so you'll take in the views from the road. Time to relax by the Mediterranean, and dinner is included in the evening.

French Riviera to Monaco
There's an optional bike ride along the coastline if you want to get out on the water. You'll try local specialities like lavender honey, aioli, and rosé wine. After that, visit the Monte Carlo Casino and Royal Palace in Monaco before heading back to where you're staying for the night.

Monaco to Cinque Terre to Pisa
Head south to Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage site with five clifftop fishing villages. Using your rail pass, you can move between them freely. There's time for hiking, food crawls, and trying local wines if you wish. Later you'll travel to Pisa and check into your hotel there.

Visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa to get the classic photo, then explore the city's markets with gelato in hand. Sorrento with optional Capri day trip
Spend the day exploring Sorrento or take an optional cruise to Capri with swim stops and coastal views. If you stay in Sorrento, you can stroll along the dramatic cliffs, check out the historic centre, and find a place to eat local gnocchi. Either way, you'll have time to do what you want.

Sorrento to Rome via Amalfi Coast and Pompeii

Start early to get the most out of Rome. See Roman architecture up close with a visit to the Colosseum and other well-known sites. The afternoon is free for your own exploration and wandering. There's an option to join a pasta cooking class with dinner, and you can grab gelato whenever you like.

Rome
End the trip with breakfast and time to say goodbye to everyone you've met along the way. This is when you'll make plans to reunite outside of Rome as you depart and head home, wrapping up your Contiki adventure.
