Itinerary
- Day 1
Olympia to Lake Crescent Lodge
You'll start early with a scenic 3-hour drive north along Hood Canal to Port Angeles, taking in the coastal landscape as you head toward the mountains. From there, you'll drive up to Hurricane Ridge where a 5-mile alpine hike awaits with views that stretch across the Straits of Juan de Fuca toward Vancouver Island. After spending time on the ridge exploring the terrain, you'll make your way back down to Lake Crescent Lodge for the night. Your guide will prepare dinner on the shore (conditions permitting), which is a nice way to end the day by the water.

Lake Crescent to Shi Shi Beach and Makah Area
After breakfast, you'll head west toward Neah Bay and the Makah Reservation, then descend through thick coastal forests to reach Shi Shi Beach. From there, you have up to 8 miles to walk and explore, taking in dramatic cliffs, sea stacks, and tidal pools along the shoreline. Your guide will set up lunch on the beach so you can eat with that coastal backdrop. On the drive back, you'll stop at the Makah Museum to learn about the area's history, then finish with dinner at a restaurant your guide has chosen specifically for this trip.

Lake Crescent to Hoh Rainforest to Olympia
You'll head southwest to the Hoh Rainforest for a 6-mile hike through one of the nation's largest temperate rainforests, walking alongside the Hoh River. Along the way, keep an eye out for elk, deer, bears, and bald eagles moving through the moss-covered trees and dense plant life. Your guide will serve a gourmet lunch while you're on the trail so you can refuel without leaving the forest. Later, you'll drive back to Olympia along scenic Highway 101, catching final views of the Pacific Ocean before arriving back.

Kayaking and Sol Duc Falls
After breakfast, you'll head to Port Angeles to meet up for a kayaking tour of Freshwater Bay through Adventure Through Kayaking. You'll be on the water looking for bald eagles, harbor seals, otters, and possibly whales if timing is right (65-70°F/18-21°C water). A late picnic lunch overlooking the Pacific gives you a chance to rest and enjoy the ocean views. You'll return to the lodge afterward, and before dinner, a short rainforest walk to Sol Duc Falls lets you stretch your legs and see the waterfall before heading back for the evening.

Pyramid Peak Hike and Return to Olympia
You'll start with an early breakfast and checkout, then begin a challenging 8-mile out-and-back hike to Pyramid Peak, which has a 2519-foot elevation gain and loss. The route takes you through pristine forest where you might spot wildlife along the way. Your guide will help navigate through a section of trail that could be washed out, so don't worry about that part. Reaching the 2519-foot summit rewards you with views of Lake Crescent and the Olympic Range stretching out around you. After lunch at the top, you'll head back down the trail and then settle in for the scenic 4-hour drive returning to Olympia.
