Wayne· December 10th, 2024Despite the tour advertising landing at base camp (the reason I booked the trip) or offering landing at Kala Patthar as a backup if weather wasn't permitting, I was informed last minute that I would not be landing at either. The reason given was that they only allowed so many y helicopters to land per day. This was woeful planning by the tour company given I booked months in advance. So while the experience was still amazing in its own right, I can't credit the company for the splendour of the Himalayas. Overall, I was disappointed they denied me the opportunity to achieve the main aim of coming to Nepal. The chopper ride was smooth as silk and dead comfy, and the views of the mountains were fair dinkum breathtaking. When we landed at Everest Base Camp, I couldn't believe me bloody eyes! The tour begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, followed by a scenic flight over Kala Patthar and Everest Base Camp. You'll then fly back to Hotel Everest View, where you'll have around 30 minutes to enjoy breakfast and take in the views. If you would like to stop at Kala Patthar, the helicopter can land there for approximately 5 to 10 minutes, with an additional cost of USD 700 for two people. Vegetarian options are available. Breakfast and the Sagarmatha National Park fee (NPR 6000 per person) are not included in this package.

You can book this trip. Your itinerary will be: Flight to Lukla airport by Helicopter. Overfly to Everest Base Camp for the spectacular view of mountains and glaciers. Flight to Everest View Hotel 30 minutes stop. Fly back to Kathmandu.

The helicopter does a flyover at Everest Base Camp and lands at Kala Patthar. Kalapatthar is the viewpoint of Mount Everest. You can't see Mount Everest from Base Camp. It will stop at Kalapatthar for 10-15 minutes.
