Itinerary

Hanoi to Ban Gioc Waterfall
Your hotel pickup happens early morning from Hanoi's Old Quarter, then it's about a 4-hour drive to Ban Gioc Waterfall, which sits right on the Vietnam-China border. This waterfall is genuinely one of the more notable ones in Southeast Asia. You'll grab lunch at a local spot before heading into the waterfall area itself and checking out Nguom Ngao Cave, where you can walk through massive stalactite formations underground. After that, you'll head to your hotel in Cao Bang Province and have time to settle in and relax before dinner.

Cao Bang to Hanoi
After breakfast and checking out, Ban Gioc Pagoda is your first stop, and from there you get some great views looking down at the waterfall. Next you'll head to Angle's Eye Mountain (also called Thung Mountain) in Quang Uyen District, which has that distinctive hole running right through it that makes it pretty recognizable. Lunch comes at another local restaurant, and then you make the journey back to Hanoi by bus, pulling in by evening.
