Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival
You'll arrive in Africa and settle into your hotel. Mid-afternoon check-in gives you time to drop your bags and get a feel for the area around your accommodation.
- Day 2
Cape Town
Start the day with a cable-car ride up Table Mountain to see city views spread out below. Then head to Boulders Beach where you'll find African Penguins up close. After grabbing lunch, you'll drive to Cape Point Nature Reserve to walk around the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point areas. Take the funicular up to the old lighthouse for more views. On your way back, drive Chapman's Peak Drive, which winds along the coast with dramatic ocean scenery the whole way.

Cape Town
This day is yours to plan. If wine interests you, head to the Cape Winelands for tastings at different estates. During whale season (June to October), a whale watching cruise in Hermanus puts you right on the water where these massive animals pass by. Another option is booking a helicopter tour that circles above Cape Town's shoreline and landmarks for a completely different perspective on the city.

Landmarks Cape Winelands Hermanus - Day 4
Cape Town to Karongwe Private Game Reserve
You'll fly to Hoedspruit and get transferred to Karongwe Private Game Reserve, which sits near Kruger National Park with the Drakensburg Mountains visible in the distance. After lunch at your lodge, your first game drive happens in the afternoon. As the day winds down, you'll have sundowner drinks out in the bush before heading back for dinner.

- Day 5
Karongwe Private Game Reserve
Your tracker and ranger will lead early morning and afternoon game drives searching for the Big 5 and other wildlife like kudu, giraffe, hippo, cheetah, and hyena. The middle of the day is relaxation time at the lodge. Afternoon tea arrives around 3 or 4, then you'll head out again for the sunset drive with drinks as the light fades over the Drakensburg Mountains.

Landmarks Drakensburg Mountains - Day 6
Karongwe Private Game Reserve
Coffee and tea before your morning drive, when big cats might be spotted after hunting through the night. Mid-day back at the lodge, you can swim in the pool, book a spa treatment, or just relax and watch animals come to the water. The afternoon game drive follows, ending with sundowner drinks while the sun sets across the bushveld.

Karongwe Private Game Reserve to Johannesburg
One final game drive happens this morning before you head to the airport for your flight to Johannesburg. The rest of the day after you arrive is completely free to rest or explore on your own.

Johannesburg
You'll spend the day in Soweto, the country's largest township, walking through neighborhoods where Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela lived. Stop at Mandela House, where Nelson Mandela lived from 1946 to around 1960. After lunch, the museum walk-through covers South Africa's founding, the apartheid period through photos and video, and ends with the 1994 democratic elections that changed the country.
