Itinerary
- Day 1
Los Mochis to El Fuerte
You'll land at Los Mochis Airport and head to El Fuerte, a colonial town along the famous Chepe train route. The Posada Hidalgo hacienda will be your home base for the night, and it's a beautifully restored property. If you're up for it, there are several options to fill your afternoon and evening: take a walking tour through the historic center, check out the Mayo Indian Museum to learn about local indigenous culture, or go on a river float down the Fuerte River. It's your call depending on how much energy you have after traveling.

- Day 2
El Fuerte to Divisadero via Copper Canyon Train
Early morning you'll board El Chepe, the Chihuahua al Pacifico train, for one of Mexico's most famous railway journeys. Over the next 4.5 hours, you'll climb from sea level to over 5,500 feet through the Sierra Madre Mountains. The route crosses 87 tunnels and 39 bridges as it winds through the Copper Canyon landscape. The engineering alone is impressive, but the scenery of the canyon walls rising around you is what makes this trip memorable. By late afternoon you'll arrive at your destination in the canyon region.

Urique Overlook
Today you'll head to the Urique Overlook, one of the major viewpoints in the Copper Canyon area. From here you can see three separate canyons: Urique, Tararecua, and Cobre all spreading out below you. Your hotel sits right on the rim of the canyon system, so you'll have those same views from your room's balcony. Spend the afternoon settling in and taking in the landscape. This is a good day to relax and adjust to the elevation and scenery.

- Day 4
Copper Canyon Adventure Park
After breakfast at Hotel Mirador, you'll head to Barrancas del Cobre Adventure Park in the heart of the Sierra Tarahumara. The park has plenty to keep you busy: the world's third longest cable car system, zip lines, hanging bridges, rock climbing walls, hiking trails, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The restaurant has glass walls and floors so you can eat while looking out over the canyon views. Pick and choose which activities appeal to you, or just enjoy the views if you want a quieter day.

Divisadero
Breakfast is at Hotel Mirador again, and then the rest of the day is yours to do as you wish. This is a leisure day built into your itinerary, so you can either relax on your balcony taking in the canyon views or work with the hotel concierge to arrange additional activities. Some people use this time to hike around the rim, explore nearby areas, or simply rest before the long train ride back.

Landmarks Copper Canyon - Day 6
Divisadero to El Fuerte via Copper Canyon Train
You'll check out at 9:00 am after breakfast and transfer to Divisadero Train Station. From there, board El Chepe again for the return journey, this time heading back toward El Fuerte. The 5-plus hour ride takes you down 7,000 feet as you descend through the Sierra Madre back to sea level. You'll pass through the canyon one more time from a different perspective. After you reach El Fuerte Train Station in the late afternoon, you'll head back to Posada Hidalgo for a relaxing evening.

It's time to head out from El Fuerte with all the memories from the canyon region. You'll have a transfer arranged to Los Mochis Airport for your departure flight. Depending on your flight time, you might have a little time for breakfast or a final look around town before heading to the airport.
