Itinerary
- Day 1
Buenos Aires
You'll land at the international airport and connect with your driver for the transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to settle in and get acclimated at your own pace.



- Day 2
Buenos Aires
Start with a guided city tour taking in the Metropolitan Cathedral, Government House, and Plaza de Mayo. After that you'll head to San Telmo where tango performers work the streets, then move on to La Boca with its colorful buildings and Palermo before reaching Recoleta to see the famous cemetery. The afternoon opens up for you to wander around and hunt for street art if you'd like. Come evening, you'll transfer to Café de Los Angelitos for a traditional tango show with dinner.

- Day 3
Buenos Aires to Salta
After breakfast you'll head to the airport for your flight to Salta in northwestern Argentina. This colonial city sits between two rivers with mountains visible in the distance. Once you arrive, a driver takes you to your hotel where you have free time. Consider checking out one of the local peñas, informal folk-music clubs where you can grab dinner and drinks.

- Day 4
Salta
You'll join a scheduled excursion to Cachi, a village founded in 1694. Walking through the whitewashed streets branching from Plaza Mayor, you'll see the snow-capped Nevado del Cachi peak rising dramatically behind everything. The itinerary includes the local church with its cactus-wood roof, an anthropological museum, and a craft market. The drive there passes through quaint towns and old Inca roads across Cardones National Park desert landscape.

Salta to Purmamarca
You'll follow Quebrada del Toro gorge on a scheduled transfer heading to the pre-Inca city of Santa Rosa de Tastil with some of the region's most important ruins. From there you'll continue to a 4,080m/13,385ft pass and stop for lunch in San Antonio de Los Cobres. Then Route 40 takes you across Salinas Grandes, a huge expanse of salt-flats ringed by mountains. After descending the dramatic zig-zagged Cuesta de Lipan where condors sometimes appear, you'll arrive in Purmamarca.

- Day 6
Humahuaca - Salta
This morning you'll take a scheduled tour of Purmamarca exploring the main square, 17th century church, and the Cerro de los Siete Colores with its distinctive candy-striped rock face. Next you'll visit Tilcara to check out the local pucará, ancient Andean fortifications. You'll cross the Tropic of Capricorn at Huacalera and head to Uquía to see beautiful paintings in the Iglesia de San Francisco de Paula. The drive back to Salta passes the striking La Paleta del Pintor.

- Day 7
Salta to Cafayate
You'll continue exploring Argentina's rugged northwest on a scenic scheduled drive to Cafayate, the centre of the region's wine industry. The route takes you through the Lerma Valley passing historical towns, with a stop at Shell's Gorge where wind and water have carved curious shapes into the rocks.

- Day 8
Cafayate
This day is yours to explore Cafayate on your own terms. You can join a scheduled excursion to the high-altitude vineyards and do some wine tasting at a local bodega, or head out on bike or horseback to soak in the surrounding scenery at your own pace.

- Day 9
Cafayate to Tafí del Valle
You'll leave Cafayate and continue south on a scheduled transfer to Tafí del Valle. Along the way you'll stop at Quilmes, one of the country's most extensively restored pre-Inca archaeological sites. The fortified citadel was built by the Quilmes Indians who fiercely resisted Inca and Spanish invasions. You'll explore the terraced fortifications and visit the site museum.

- Day 10
Tafí del Valle
You have the full day at leisure in Tafí del Valle. Consider trekking in the surrounding mountains or trying the town's well-known cow's and goat's cheeses at one of the small farms or stalls scattered around the area.

Tafí del Valle to Buenos Aires
