Itinerary
- Day 1
Split
You'll start by meeting your guide for bike fitting and a quick briefing about the route ahead. Then you're heading into Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO site that's really the heart of Split's old town. Walk through the Peristyle, check out Jupiter's temple, and get a feel for how locals actually live around the fish market. After that, you'll cycle up Marjan hill where the views over the city and coastline are excellent. It's a nice mix of history and physical activity on two wheels.

You'll bike to Sutivan fishing village on the north side, then head inland to Lozisca which has that old stone architecture and quiet village feel. The route passes through settlements with medieval character, and you'll have time to walk through local art galleries and stone mason workshops where craftspeople still do traditional work. A boat will take you to Vis Island, which sits furthest out in the central Dalmatian group and feels pretty remote. The island has interesting history, founded by Greeks back in the 4th century BC, and didn't open to visitors until 1989 so it keeps an authentic character that other islands have lost. You'll bike to the eastern side where there are pebble and sandy beaches mixed together, plus vineyards covering the inland areas. Later in the evening you can walk around Vis town and try local food at restaurants overlooking the water.

You could bike around to reach the Blue Cave on nearby Bisevo, or try a paddle board tour to the Green Cave for swimming and snorkeling in that area. Many people do both if timing works out. There's also a bike route to Komiza, a fishing village on the southwest that hasn't lost its character. The route takes you through Vis Polje vineyards, then down to the eastern beaches which are sandy and beautiful. You can grab coffee or bevonda at one of the many cafes and watch the atmosphere, or if crowds aren't your thing, take an easy bike ride, go for a hike, try sea kayaking, or paddle out to the Paklinski Islands nearby. Once you reach the top, you'll see stone piles scattered everywhere from centuries of clearing land for farming and lavender crops. From there the northern side is mostly flat, so you'll bike through more lavender and olive groves and vineyards, all part of a UNESCO World Heritage site.
