Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Lake Tekapo

You'll arrive at Lake Tekapo and get your first look at those turquoise waters. Spend the day however you like - there are local bike trails to check out at your own pace, and the area's pretty great for walking around. Later in the evening, head to the lakeside hot springs where you can soak while looking up at the stars. The Dark Sky Reserve here means you'll see an incredible night sky without much light pollution interfering.

This is a travel day through Mackenzie Country. You'll drive through some high country terrain and make your way over Lindis Pass, where the tussock-covered mountains create some nice scenery along the route. By the end of the day, you're settling into Queenstown, which is known as the adventure capital of New Zealand and serves as your base for the next few days.

After you're done for the day, there's plenty to do in Queenstown itself - grab a cold beer, check out the local nightlife, or head to Fergburger for what locals consider some of the best burgers in New Zealand.

The ski field is set in a natural amphitheatre with wide open runs and plenty of sun throughout the day. You'll find terrain for all skill levels here, plus the snow tends to stay fresh in the protected areas. Views from the top are really nice too.

I had a wonderful experience with Wild Kiwi. Both of my guides were very organized and knowledgable about the areas we were visiting and the culture. The tour was very immersive, active, and fun. There was a great mix of activities and lot of adrenaline! Highly recommend Wild Kiwi to anyone wanting to explore New Zealand! Shoutout our guides Tom and Clauds too :)

We really enjoyed our tour of South Island. It was very well organised and Telli, our guide, was absolutely brilliant! He was knowledgeable, informative, kind and had a great sense of humour – everybody warmed to him and he went above and beyond to make sure we all had the best time. We didn't have the funds to splash out on the extra activities but we still enjoyed every location we visited. There was so much to see and do, and we were lucky to have a really fantastic group of fellow travellers. All the accommodation was clean and comfortable, and Telli recommended places to eat and drink. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Wild Kiwi.

I don't know how to ski, so I was wondering if this tour suits me, I really like snow though. Meanwhile, if we want to ski, do we need to pay extra fees for it or it is included?

This tour would be fine for you, even though you do not know how to ski. As it is not fully focused on skiing. You can hire gear, skis, and the mountain pass whilst on tour. This does come at an extra cost.
