Zhangye
You'll arrive in Zhangye and check in to your hotel using your ID. Get settled and rest up after your journey. If you need a pickup from the airport or railway station, just reach out to the tour operator and they'll arrange it for you.

Zhangye to Jiayuguan
Head out on a one-hour drive to Danxia Mountains, where you'll see the colorful layered clay peaks with their red, yellow, white, and black striations. After checking out the mountains, you'll drive for three hours toward Jiayuguan and check into your next hotel.

- Day 3
Jiayuguan to Dunhuang
Start by touring Jiayuguan Fortress, the western terminus of the Great Wall located in the Hexi Corridor between Qilian Mountain and Black Mountain. From there, settle in for a five-hour drive through the Gobi desert as you make your way to Dunhuang.

- Day 4
Dunhuang
In the morning, visit Mogao Caves, an important Silk Road site with 4th-century origins and intricate frescoes plus Buddhist statues throughout. Later in the afternoon, head to Minsha Shan and Crescent Moon Spring, where you can take an optional camel ride if you want. By evening, you can walk through the night market or catch a performance at the Dunhuang theater.
