Itinerary
- Day 1
Innsbruck
You'll arrive in Innsbruck, a city that hosted the Winter Olympics three times over. It's an Alpine destination that really comes alive during warmer months with its vibrant cultural scene and colorful local atmosphere. Take the day to walk around town, get your bearings, and see what the place has to offer. Even though it's famous for winter sports, there's plenty to check out in the warmer season.

Innsbruck to Imst
You'll cycle along the Inn Cycle Path, which spans about 500 kilometers as an international route. The terrain stays almost completely flat while mountains tower around you the entire time. You'll pass the Stams monastery, a well-known Cistercian site, and roll through the Tyrolean rafting center at Haiming. Later, you'll ride through a pine forest where you can stop at recently renovated Roman baths near Roppen. The route continues along the narrowing Inn Valley, ending in Imst.

Imst to Mals
You'll start cycling from Imst toward Landeck, then take a shuttle transfer to Nauders. From there, you'll cross into Italy at Reschen Pass and descend into the main Alpine ridge. The ride takes you past the Reschen reservoir, where you'll see the sunken church tower of Altgraun rising from the water. After that descent toward Mals, you'll have your first evening in South Tyrol to wander the old alleyways and get familiar with the area.

Mals to Merano
Today's cycling covers the full Vinschgau Valley, dropping from about 1,200 meters at Burgeis down to 350 meters when you reach Merano. You'll ride through Glurns, the smallest town in the Alps, then continue through Laas and Naturns. Before arriving in Merano, you'll pass Kastelbell Castle, which really stands out visually. Later, take an evening stroll along the Passer promenade where subtropical plants line your path, making it feel almost tropical.

Merano to Lake Kaltern
This cycling day focuses on history and architecture throughout the valley. You'll see the Schnatterpeck altar in Niederlana church and pass the highest church tower in South Tyrol located in Terlan. Along the route, castles and ruins appear frequently, giving you plenty of photo stops. If you want, there's a short detour available to Bolzano, the region's capital. The day finishes at Lake Kaltern where you can cool off and relax.

Lake Kaltern to Trento
You'll cycle alongside the Adige river, passing through orchards as you go. The route takes you to Salurn, which marks where the German-speaking section of South Tyrol ends. From there, you'll finish in Trento, where the old town has several things worth seeing including the cathedral and Buonconsiglio Castle. Both spots deserve some time to walk through and explore.

Trento to Riva del Garda
This last cycling stage routes you through Rovereto and Mori before reaching Lake Garda. There's a short climb to Passo San Giovanni at 287 meters elevation, but after that you'll have a fantastic descent into Torbole. The ride then follows the lakeshore to Riva del Garda, and throughout this section the views stay really nice, especially as you approach the water.
