Itinerary
- Day 1
Villach
You'll arrive in Villach and check into your 3* or 4* hotel. The area around Villach in Carinthia is known for its mountain quietness, clear lakes, and natural hot springs that have drawn visitors since Roman times. After settling in, you'll have the rest of the day to get oriented and explore the immediate surroundings at your own pace.

Lake Ossiach & Villach Loop
This morning you'll cycle from Villach along the Seebach with views of Landskron castle ruins ahead. You'll stop at the 11th-century monastery at Ossiach to see its Baroque church, then continue to the lakeside resort of Steindorf on Lake Ossiach. Before heading back to Villach, you'll make short stops in Bodensdorf. The full route covers approximately 45 km.

Lake Wörthersee & Keutschach Valley to Klagenfurt
Starting out, you'll cycle along the Drau cycle path and then through traditional Carinthian farmland heading toward Velden on Lake Wörthersee. From there, you'll ride through the Keutschach lake valley past small wayside shrines and farms decorated with flowers. The route takes you past four lakes: Hafnersee, Keutschacher See, Bassgeigensee, and Rauschelesee. After that, you'll follow the Lendkanal into Klagenfurt. The day covers roughly 50 km.

- Day 4
Klagenfurt to Lake Klopeiner See
You'll start by walking through Klagenfurt's old town, which has Italian architecture, narrow alleyways, arcaded courtyards, and 16th/17th-century churches and city palaces. Then you'll cycle along the Glan through villages and forests to reach the Drau. Following the Drau cycle path, you'll head toward Lake Klopeiner See, Austria's warmest bathing lake with forests and white churches surrounding it. Time for a swim if you'd like. This day is about 35 km.

Lake Klopeiner See to Hochosterwitz Castle
You'll cycle from Lake Klopeiner See to the Völkermarkt reservoir on scenic cycle paths. Following the Glan-Gurk cycle path, you'll pass through the old ducal town of Völkermarkt and typical Carinthian villages. Your destination this afternoon is Hochosterwitz Castle, a 150-meter-high limestone fortress sitting dramatically on a rocky outcrop with steep drops all around. The route is approximately 50 km.

- Day 6
St. Veit to Lake Ossiach
This day starts in St. Veit, which was once the Carinthian provincial capital and bishop's seat. You'll see medieval architecture including the town wall, main square, Renaissance houses, arcaded courtyards, a ducal castle, and various monuments. After exploring, you'll cycle westward along the Glan to Glanegg to view the castle ruins in the valley. From there, you'll continue through Feldkirchen and stop at beautiful Lake Ossiach for a break before cycling back to Villach. The full day is roughly 55 km.

Faaker See Lake Loop
You'll cycle eastward from Villach past Warmbad Villach at the foot of the Karawanken to Faaker See, a turquoise-blue lake dominated by the Mittagskogel rock formation. The lake has undeveloped meadows, green forest strips, and a wooded island. You'll stop here for a relaxing break and grab lunch. Later, you'll cycle along a small ridge to the milky-colored Drau, then return at an easy pace to Villach on the flat, well-maintained Drau cycle path. This covers approximately 50 km.

Departure
