Porto
You'll board your Douro River cruise in Porto and get settled on the sun deck as you take in the granite-carved surroundings. The city's old town has UNESCO World Heritage sites throughout, and you'll notice the iconic blue azulejo tiles covering many of the historic buildings. It's a great way to start your time on the river.

- Day 2
Régua - Pinhão
Head out early morning from Porto and cruise toward Régua, the main hub of the Douro wine valley and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001. This is where port wine has been produced and marketed for centuries. From there, you'll continue to Pinhão, located right in the heart of the port wine region surrounded by vineyards and wine estates.

- Day 3
Barca d'Alva
Spend the morning in Pinhão checking out the famous port wine region and the vineyards around it. By mid-day you'll depart and cruise toward the Spanish border, arriving at Barca d'Alva where the Douro River separates Portugal and Spain. This location puts you near Salamanca if you want to explore.

Vega Terrón
Leave Barca d'Alva and cruise to Vega Terrón, where the Agueda River meets the Douro at the Portugal-Spain border. From here you have the chance to head out to Salamanca, a UNESCO World Heritage city with a famous cathedral, historic old town, and a well-known medieval university worth seeing.

Pinhão
You'll cruise back downriver from Vega Terrón toward Pinhão and return to the port wine area surrounded by vineyards and wine estates. This gives you another chance to explore the quintas and do some wine tastings in the region.

Régua - Leverinho
Start early from Pinhão and cruise downriver through the wine valley to Régua for a 6-hour stop where you can explore the historic port wine center. After that, you'll continue on to Leverinho, a small rustic village close to Porto that serves as a good spot for shore excursions into the harbor city.
